My wife’s bcm build is lighter or equivalent to my Larue upper.. food for thought

Yea I've already been researching some things.  It looks like I'll save about a pound with a different stock, handguard, and optic.  I also might just do a "pistol" build, that should be light enough.

That rifle looks about perfect. Can’t be over what? 8lbs?

Plus, I’d rather have an extra pound or so and a more capable rifle than a lighter-weight AR pistol with a shorter barrel and associated degradation in terminal ballistics.

What exactly is “light enough” in your opinion and why do you need it so light?

Are you planning on carrying it for days through mountainaous terrain?

Is it too heavy to bring to the range in your car?

Is it too heavy to shoulder and shoot without using a bench?

You reach a point of diminishing returns when shaving weight on a rifle. A very light rifle is more fatiguing to shoot fast and accurate than a slightly heavier rifle is to carry.

You bring up a lot of good points, and I think it's just a form of Male Insanity Syndrome....but with guns lol. For the uninformed:

The belief that there is a more compatible or desirable woman than one's present girlfriend.

It's been a while since I've shot this rifle.  I'll have to get some range time behind it before making any rash decisions.

I think he meant...what are you shooting at?

btw, that’s an interesting outfit.  Camo shorts to blend in, safety shirt to stand out? :)

I literally wear the same outfit on like a regular basis. My parents often get confused as my torso just floats around the house (i wear camo hats as well).

    • In 50 years of living in NJ I've never experienced any attempt to inspect the interior of the home, and only one definite inspection of the exterior for an announced reassessment of all properties and that was a drive by. About 9 years of that was living in an apartment, but still, uncommon. Every place I lived had either a finished attic, basement, or both. But they were also included in the habitable square footage on the taxes when we got there.
    • 27.00 and change in tolls to drive down the shore from Rutherford,  47.00 in tolls to go out to Long island to visit dying relatives. Now I read they are going to raise the fees in the DMV. Murphy lied just to get elected when he said that seniors will get a significant tax break with his StayNJ" program to stop us from leaving.   Keep voting for democrats...this is what you get.  Tax and spend is all they know.  Never cut anything.  This state sucks.
    • I get the added benefit that since I have a TSP rather than a true 401(k) they tax my retirement too. Yaaaay!
