checko 180 Posted July 28, 2013 Does the front sight post affect viewing the red dot? Don't know about Vlad but I keep mine in the bottom 1/3 of the tube. When focused on a target I don't really even notice the sight post.

checko 180 Posted July 28, 2013 With both eyes open (the key) at the target you see the dot and where you want to put it.

jermz1987 243 Posted August 9, 2013 Well Finnaly took the plunge and purchased an EOTech. I tried them on other people rifles and have always wanted one. I was planning on getting the 512, But ended up getting a good price on a used XPS-3.

checko 180 Posted August 10, 2013 +1 for aimpoint... have had 5 or 6 total.. and never had a single issue.. batteries last forever.. Yeah I know aimpoint is top notch. I reeeeeally don't want to turn this thread about ap vs eo. We've done that to death. All I'm interested in with the eo is the reticle.
High Exposure 5,661 Posted August 10, 2013 The EO Reticle is nice. The 1 MOA dot is crisp, precise, and easy to use. The 65 MOA ring is nice to draw your eye in. You can use it to gauge moving targets, but it has to be specific circumstances at specific ranges. To me the EO reticle, while very usable, is a bit busy and I prefer a single dot. The biggest drawback to the EO Reticle is that it is "drawn" on the screen with a laser. The laser, which draws a nice crisp outilne of everything you see in the reticle, uses a lot of power and cuts the battery life drastically.

Yeah I know about the drawback with the battery life but I don't have "working" rifles where I feel it would effect me drastically I really liked my primary arms multi rec red dot on my original rifle (I like it for what it is) which has a similar dot in circle as well as others. I adapted to it quickly. I have a Vortex SPARC on my current rifle so a step to an aimpoint micro won't throw me off either.
High Exposure 5,661 Posted August 10, 2013 Right on. Just keep in mind that the EO draws power from the bateries even when the power has been shut off. You have to take the batteries out of the optic when storing it.
checko 180 Posted August 10, 2013 Hmm, I was not aware of that. Thanks for the heads up!
Zerosignal 1 Posted August 10, 2013 Debating an eotech or aimpoint micro. Let me know how you like yours.Love my Aimpoint T1 micro...worth the $600 buck IMO.. Eotech has to many "ifs" for my taste. Would still buy one for a secondary rifle.
High Exposure 5,661 Posted August 10, 2013 Most people don't realize that. Now back to ARs. Just built this the other day while my kid was taking a nap from some spare parts I had laying around in my parts bin: BCM 16" Midlength Upper with standard barrel and FSC556 muzzle break DD Omega 9 Rail Gunfighter Mod 4 Charging Handle Defensive Edge SLR 15 Lower with Stag LPK Magpul PRS Stock Magpul MIAD Grip TD Bipod TA01NSN ACOG in LaRue Mount Not in the photo, there is now a Geissele SDE trigger in it and a Troy BUIS. Took it to the range and after a quick zeroing, it did this at 100 yards from the prone: I am not a precision shooter, but I was pleased with the results. Zerosignal 1 Posted August 10, 2013 My parts bin consists of a Noveske stripped gen 2 lower waiting for the right upper to come into its life... Wish I had that many parts laying around .
High Exposure 5,661 Posted August 10, 2013 Full Disclosure - the upper with brake was already assembled and in the safe. I just built the lower, installed the rail and added the optic and bipod
