Tired of hearing "Why do you need an AR-15" or "Why do you need high capacity magazines?" "We should ban them."

 

"We live in safe area, my house hasn't been broken into." OK, Why do you have locks on your house? Why do you lock your doors? Why do you lock your car?

 

Why do you have a fire extinguisher in your kitchen? I've never had a fire that required a fire extinguisher.

 

Why do you need a seatbelt? Have you ever gotten into an accident where a seatbelt saved your life?

 

Why do you need a car? I know someone who lives on my street who doesn't have a car. He walks everywhere or takes a bus if needed (in a rural suburban area).

 

"But cars are important." More people lose their lives per year to cars (42K) than people murdered with guns (6K). We should ban cars.

 

More people die of obesity (300K) than guns (6K). Why don't we ban McDonald's and Burger King and sue them?

 

More people die of prescription drugs (107k) than by guns (6k). Why don't we ban them and sue big pharma?

Break-ins these days aren't like what you see on TV with a single dude in a ski mask sneaking in through an open window. Around here it is a bunch of organized young athletic males from Newark with priors driving a stolen car who have cased the area before. 2-4 of them break into the house with 1 waiting in the car. Laws have no meaning or consequences to them because they live in a liberal Democrat controlled city that has liberal bail reform laws and liberal DA, prosecutors, and judges that just let them back out on the streets. We see people getting punched and knocked out for fun, pushed onto subway tracks for fun, or kill or rape for fun to join gang. They've been told over and over again that white people have privileges that they don't and that white people are oppressors and all whites are racist.

 

• What is your wife going to do when these 4 big athletic males break in and you are away on a business trip? They beat up and incapacitate your youngest son and now want to have their way with your wife and daughter. She has a 9mm handgun with 10rounds and knows how to use it. But we all know it takes multiple shots from a handgun to immediately incapacitate someone. One shot may eventually kill someone hours later, but think what they can be doing in those seconds, minutes and hours to your family. So lets say it takes 6 shots to immediately kill the first guy, and you hit a 2nd guy with the remaining 4 shots. There is still 2 guys left who are now really pissed you killed their friends and you are out of ammo because we are limited to only 10 rounds. The bad guy in the car comes in to see what is going on and now there are 3 bad guys who don't want any witnesses.

 

 

A 5.56 AR would take about 2 shots to incapacitate someone. But there is a total of 5 bad guys. With only 10 rounds, you need to be perfect under stress to incapacitate all of them immediately. Are you willing to bet you or your families lives on it? What about your friends or neighbors or other law abiding citizens who want to be able to protect themselves?

 

Far more lives are saved than lost by guns, because people are able to turn the tables and defend themselves against people who would otherwise have no problem hurting or killing others.

Honestly it's a bizarre cognitive dissonance that they've internalized.

They simultaneously push "the US is a violent hellhole where you could be the victim of gun violence at any moment." and "you don't need a gun for protection. What are you afraid of?"

Also the ridiculousness of "hunting rifles" vs "assault weapons." People genuinely believe that some guns are suitable for sport, while some guns have no purpose for killing. Spoiler: something that can kill an animal much larger than a human, can kill humans.
