Transferring to Pennsylvania question

Recommended Posts

If someone want to buy a gun from me and they’re in Pa and I’m in NJ do I have to have a nj FFL ship to a Pa FFL? Or can I personally bring the gun to a FFL in Pa for them to transfer to the pa resident that’s buying..? Thanks

You can transport it to PA yourself, but as you appear to know already, the transfer must be done through an FFL.

@Ed471 Make sure you call the PA FFL and make sure they will accept it that way. Some FFLs will only accept a firearm to transfer if its sent to them from an FFL - this as a matter of their store policy, not law.

I’d hate for you to take the ride out there and they tell you they won’t accept it from a private seller.

Assuming you have a copy of your purchase permit for the pistol, tell the FFL you can bring that with you. It might help convince them if they're hesitant.

Or not.
