EchoMirage 137 Posted October 15, 2009 you see these in movies mostly. most recently, i saw it in jurassic park (the shotguns the hunter and father had), and in snatch (when the black guys held up the bookie's that had no money). its a metal top fold stock, with a rectangular butt pad that folds down. i always thought they looked cool, but could never find one. do they even exist or is it a hollywood thing? GRIZ 3,369 Posted October 15, 2009 Remington used to sell a metal topfolder. They are dangerous in my opinion. It worked but you had to spend a lot of attention to your cheek weld. If your cheek wasn't tight to the stock it would whack you bad. We had people at work get cuts and even a broken cheek bone from these stocks. They were all eventually replaced with conventional wood stocks.
EchoMirage 137 Posted October 15, 2009 http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=285327 i already have that. i was looking for the metal one.
Joeybones 1 Posted October 15, 2009 Not sure but I think they may have used one of these in Jurassic Park http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/sh14-e.htm or these http://spas12.com/spas12intro2.htm
EchoMirage 137 Posted October 16, 2009 nice links. looks like it was the second one, SPAS12. that stock may have been a SPAS specific part, as ive never seen it anywhere else.
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted October 16, 2009 Check the shotgun accessory department at: www.cheaperthandirt.com The reviews are iffy, since it's universal it's got a lot of play in some areas.
EchoMirage 137 Posted October 17, 2009 ive looked through CTD dozens of times. they dont have the stock in question. i think its probably a SPAS only part.
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted October 18, 2009 this one? http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/SHT057-1.html
EchoMirage 137 Posted October 18, 2009 thats the one i have. its plastic. the one in question is metal with a rectangular butt pad.
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted October 19, 2009 Sorry. I didn't know it was plastic. I was about to say that it's a cheapy and some have complained about it. So defenitly, if you really want that type of stock, get metal. Good luck homey.
EchoMirage 137 Posted October 19, 2009 i may not have put 1000s of rounds through with that stock, but it wasnt that cheap. around 70-80 when i bought it off ebay 2yrs ago. good quality, fits just fine. not totally comfortable, but what folding stock is. Ray Ray 3,566 Posted October 19, 2009 Remington makes that side folding stock that holds three extra rounds. It actually feels okay but my arms are way to long for a shorter stock. I'll try and find the link tonight.

ctrmass 0 Posted October 21, 2009 I had a remington top folder on an 870. I sold it.
nickd308 0 Posted November 18, 2009 the stock in question was definitely a spas-12 only stock. there are knock offs out there but nothing like the Franchi
