charleslee 44 Posted March 15, 2010 Does N.J. require that dealers see your Firearm I.D. Card prior to selling you ammo & make a record of the transaction?
Malsua 1,422 Posted March 16, 2010 Does N.J. require that dealers see your Firearm I.D. Card prior to selling you ammo & make a record of the transaction? Not long gun ammunition. Pistol calibers yes. Some stores do anyway, but for shotgun and rifle there "typically" isn't any check.

coldsolderjoint 84 Posted March 16, 2010 Isn't it FPID, Pistol Purchase Permit, Permit to Carry a Handgun, or FFL ?
Maksim 1,504 Posted March 16, 2010 FID for handgun ammo, drivers for rifle to verify age. Most stores have just adopted policy that you need FID for any ammo. Alot simpler. Same for powder i believe... or on one of the components.

Not sure of the actual laws, but I know when I bought powder at Sportsmen's Center and 777 at Cheyane, they recorded it and asked to see my drivers license. I've bought primers in person without any ID.
