Anybody know for sure? Is it legal in NJ? SKS China 56 Norinco with 15 round detachable magazine? Thanks.

yes it is post ban, clinton banned norinco importers from china and it was not just the sks they imported alot of chinese stuff to our country it was all banned from being imported..

SKS okay. Any with any kind of detachable magazine not okay. Specifically listed as an assault weapon.

You cannot have an sks with detachable mag in NJ.

 

But.. an sks with a fixed mag can have all your evil features that you want. (Federal 922r considered)

Even if the detachable mag was legal it most likely violates the Federal 922 so you would have to make it up with usa made parts. If the rifle is in excellent shape and a good price just get a standard 10 round fixed and you will be good.

you already know it - the laws are strange eg an ar15 is not an assault weapon with it's detachable mags???

Tapco makes a fixed 10 round magazine and a removable 15 round magazine. They both look like 20 round removable mags.

 

The mag is "fixed" by a roll pin that is sort of melted through the rear of the mag so that the trigger guard holds it in.

 

It makes the rifle look pretty sweet, but you loose the ability to unload quickly by flipping open the bottom of the mag. And in the case of a bad jam.. it might cause you to dissemble a rifle with a round in the chamber if you didn't do the bolt modification.

 

In the end, I decided it wasn't worth it and just stuck with the stock 10 round fixed mag.
