bmanrkg3 3 Posted April 20, 2010 Does anyone/place do duracoat (and do it well)? Looking to get my 590 done.
BullzeyeNJ 104 Posted April 21, 2010 Not in NJ but...EGW in Quakerstown, PA does their "E coating" which I think holds up better then dura coat.
bmanrkg3 3 Posted April 21, 2010 Well, duracoat-type product. I have a lead on someone, but I still gotta figure out what colors I want...
Guest Posted April 21, 2010 Does anyone/place do duracoat (and do it well)? Looking to get my 590 done. Try paterson gunsmithing....Marco does a great job so you may want to look him up. He has a thick dominican accent, and he is a gunsmith PRO...been in paterson for 30 years...even has a little range downstairs to you can check his work... NJgunowner86 0 Posted April 24, 2010 The main thing about Duracoat is it is a do-it-yourself finish. It's a little over a hundred bucks for the stuff and some tools needed and it can be done in the home on a weekend. If you're gonna pay for it to be done by a professional, why not go with a professional grade finish such as Cerakote, Molyresin, etc. I sent a gun away to be Cerakoted. Absolutely amazing finish. Durability was my main concern. I am extremely cynical and rarely trust any advertisement so I ordered free samples from the company to abuse the hell out of the stuff myself. They sent me half a dozen pieces of small sheet metal coated with Cerakote. I took a knife to them and could barely even get to bare metal, scraping hard. i tried various nasty solvents like brake cleaner, chlorinated brake cleaner, it held up great. Including shipping charges I paid a total of $225 from http://www.customizedcreationz.com they are stand up folks and would certainly go there again. I have a Cerakoted gun, and also have had experiences with Duracoated guns and Aluma-Hyde II coated guns, there is simply no comparison. Moly Resin is also an amazing professional grade finish. Some data on it: http://www.nicindustries.com/firearm_coatings.php
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted April 27, 2010 I'd like my Charter coated with something but I can't decide on what. Or what color it should be.

the m700 project 0 Posted April 30, 2010 Check out nitriding, then duracoat over it. Or go to Birdsong, though the wait is pretty outrageous
