Neighbors: NYC Gun Bust A 'Misunderstanding'

Four people were arrested after police found over a dozen guns inside a Brooklyn home.

A Brooklyn couple and their adult son were among four people facing charges after weapons were discovered in their house, but some neighbors who know them said this was all just a misunderstanding.

 

Ten handguns, nine shotguns and an umbrella with a dagger hidden in the handle were among the items recovered from Gravesend home, which sits across the street from an elementary school.

 

The suspects were arrested as a part of an ongoing investigation.

 

"They're not violent people at all. They're good people, good citizens. They're not violent at all. I don't know. Maybe it was a gun collection" one neighbor said.

 

"They have collectibles. They like to collect antiques and this shouldn't have happened to them," another said.

 

Police also recovered a stash of ammunition.

 

The suspects all face weapons charges.

I still don't get why they were arrested. Are guns just outright illegal in NYC? Was it the type of longarms this "wacky" family had? Unbelievable.
