Magazine Rig..

I used to previously shoot mostly from a bench.. but lately I have been shooting more *quick few shots.. quick few shots.. magazine change.. shoot shoot.. mag change..* type shooting.. I am not shooting any kind of competitions or anything just trying to get better at shooting while moving (unknown distances) and changing magazines.. so that leads me to this question.. I mostly shoot a Saiga with 15 round surefire mags.. this is the gun I do the most shoot and move with.. what kind of rig can I get that will allow me to hold spare mags..

 

I have a fobus holster for extra glock mags.. and the moving shooting thing works well with that.. but I simply lack any means to carry rifle mags.. want to look into a rig that isn't going to just fall apart.. but don't want to exactly break the bank either.. what are some good brands.. good deals.. etc.. I am assuming I may have to modify the pouches to hold the mags correctly since they are an odd size..

Im having the SAME issue but for 308 mags. I keep finding good rigs but they are not set up to hook to a reguler belt....

when you say hook to belt? I have given up on finding anything that will go on a belt.. I have been looking more into like full front chest rigs.. nothing too heavy or bulky.. but just something that will easily hold 4-6 mags..

Try a Blast Belt.

You can put on MOLLE mag pouches.

Get something with MOLLE. Battle belts are a decent idea. As for pouches, consider TACO pouches. They fit virtually anything. Installation is a PITA, but I've heard these are the best thing out there right now. Not sure about costs.

I also like the ten-speed type pouches from BFG, which come in two sizes (notably for 5.56 mags and 308 type mags). These are relatively cheap and easy to use.

He's firing a Saiga though - AK mags are bigger than AR mags. There are tons of MOLLE AK mag pouches though.

Well thats just it, it has to work with a reguler belt loop belt because Im not switching out my entire gunbelt, mag holder, holster rig. Looked at some of the Kydex offerrings.... but man they are expensive for plastic!

The nice thing about kydex is that you can roll your own if you're so inclined. Plenty of places sell the basic components online. Been meaning to give it a shot, but never seem to get around to it.

For our purposes they will be good enough. We don't need mil-spec gear. If we did, I do have some original SOE gear I'd use, but it's not MOLLE.

I am a buy it once and be done with it kind of guy.. I do not like gear failure.. So I will likely dump a little bit of money into it..

Tactical Tailor makes great stuff, and is a great manufacturer. A lot of OEM gear that troops wear down range are actually TT products-- so, buy with confidence.

I ask because I'm curious how easy it is to get to your pistol (I think it's a pistol) on your left side? It looks like it's mounted really high up compared to your average belt holster.

I would run a regular gun belt with that.. looks like it is high enough to be up and out of the way.. I really like that rig the more and more I look at it.. bid on a load bearing vest on ebay with MOLLE attachments.. but if that falls through I am jumping on what you posted..

I have a OSOE Micro Rig and a TT Single Peice MAV. They both work.

 

 

OSOE is the tits as far as cool guy gear goes. I also have a Eagle Plate carrier for work that has held up nicely.
