Ray Ray 3,566 Posted November 13, 2010 I've always carried a multi-tool, but I'm in need of a new one. The leatherman brand has been in my pocket and on my hip since I was in the guard, so that's what I'm used to. Any other good ones?
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted November 13, 2010 Leatherman MUT! http://www.leatherman.com/product/MUT
maideneddie 35 Posted November 13, 2010 Stick with what you know works best. Leatherman makes an awesome product, and their current lineup has many different tools to offer. For the price you can't beat their products.
Caine 147 Posted November 13, 2010 You really can't go wrong with a Leatherman. MUT is on my "to buy" list.
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted November 13, 2010 The MUT was on mine too, but it's more of an AR tool. I need something for work. I do electrical so that'll be it's main job.
henrym 19 Posted November 13, 2010 I have the Leatherman Surge. Even though its a little heavy it has never failed.
Sigman 41 Posted November 13, 2010 I have a charge Ti that I have in my computer case. It's a few years old, but is a great tool. I have the bit set for it. It's a little heavy so maybe they have soething similar but lighter. Charge Ti
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted November 14, 2010 I figured it might as well be a lot of Leatherman love. Anything else to check out?
Caine 147 Posted November 14, 2010 Gerber and SOG have decent reputations when it comes to multitools, altho I've only ever owned Leathermans, so can't say from personal experience.
bbk 188 Posted November 14, 2010 I have been using Gerber myself. I'm sure the quality of Leatherman's are better, but I haven't run into any issues with my Gerbers during a couple years of hard use.
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted November 14, 2010 I carried a Gerber knife while I was a deck-hand in the Guard. SOG's are a bit pricey, but just as good.
robs609 2 Posted November 14, 2010 I have a leatherman blast and love it. Leatherman is top notch when it comes to multitools.
TommyRuss 6 Posted November 15, 2010 I have the Leatherman Skeletool CX, but it's definitely pared down from the accessories normally found on a multi-tool.
tbtrout 141 Posted November 15, 2010 I have had a Gerber for many years and like it better then the Leatherman I use to use. No clue on all the modern bigger and better features that may have been added in the last 20 or so years
crackaloon 15 Posted November 15, 2010 I've had Gerbers that were good but just a little too thick for the pouch I use at work. The Leatherman Wave has been my favorite for the last six or so years.
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted December 27, 2010 thought I'd update this since I started it. Santa put a leatherman wave with a holster under the tree. Leatherman Wave FTW!!!!
Caine 147 Posted December 27, 2010 Good choice. I bought the same one for my dad for Xmas this year.
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted December 27, 2010 wha!!!! I bought my dad the skeletool with the 2 flashlights! that's funny
Tosser 61 Posted January 2, 2011 I have a leatherman WAVE and a Super Tool 200. The Super Tool i've had for like 8 years and it still rocks. Can't go wrong. The .mil gave me a gerber. I just stuck with my leatherman.
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted January 2, 2011 What's funny is after buying the new Leatherman Wave, I found my old one in the basement! Big difference in today's Wave as apposed to the one i've had for years.
Dan 177 Posted January 2, 2011 Funny, I'm in the process of returning two gifts for a Leatherman MUT.
notmetoo 41 Posted January 6, 2011 I have a Gerber and a Leatherman and prefer the Gerber. However, I just gave my son a two SOGs (an EOD in black and silver Powerlock) and they are very, very solid. A little larger and heavier than my 2, but they feel like tanks compared to the Humvee Leatherman and Gerber.

Ray Ray 3,566 Posted January 7, 2011 I would've liked to see why some others failed but good video none-the-less.
bmanrkg3 3 Posted February 5, 2011 I know my SOG loves to rust! (its a silver powerlock) And i've managed to break one of the tips of the needlenose pliers. I'm looking at one of those MUT tools presently...
deviated rationality 4 Posted March 8, 2011 The MUT looks awesome, but ehhhh its a bit limited when using it for anything other than basic jobs or working on a rifle. The SOG Multi's are great, just need to take care of them. IMO the SOGS have a LOT more functionality than the leathermans, mainly because of the designs of each tool. They don't typically come with as many tools as the Wave, but then the Wave has been lacking quality lately. Also, the pliers on the Power Assist model have more power than the leathermans due to their "Compound Leverage" design, which is EXTREMELY useful for the thicker stuff you want to cut or grip on to. Check it out: http://sogknives.com/store/B66.html I have the Leatherman Core, which is great, but it doesn't touch the SOG in many ways. Looking to get the MUT and maybe
