BullzeyeNJ 104 Posted December 28, 2010 Hi Daniel, Sent you a PM to answer your questions. BE BullzeyeNJ, This looks like a real work of art! Love the work done on the back of slide. How much did it set you back to build this? If I want to go this route would a Colt series 70 base gun be better than a SA? What's the turn around for a job like this? thanks, Daniel

Cemeterys Gun Blob 165 Posted January 27, 2011 I put in a Wilson Combat Drop in grip safety and hammer on my other Springfield GI. Which Wilson parts did you use? From Brownells? And were they really drop in, or was *minor* fitting required?
jermz1987 243 Posted January 27, 2011 Which Wilson parts did you use? From Brownells? And were they really drop in, or was *minor* fitting required? I ordered two hammers. First one was this Wilson Combat Ultra light hammer. It fit fine but made the safety a little hard to engage. I also ordered a Smith and Wesson hammer which was cheaper and is what is on the gun now, It fit better. The safety works just fine with the Smith and Wesson hammer. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productnumber=496392 http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productnumber=532745 This is the Wilson Combat drop in grip safety I used. It fit perfectly. Ive never taken apart a 1911 and I was able to put it in. I just had to watch a youtube video on breaking down the 1911. Very happy with the way it came out. Fit my Springfield 1911 GI without any fitting. I'm ordering the Stainless Steel one for my SS GI. Might put in a different trigger as well. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productnumber=954488

pronoun 1 Posted January 30, 2011 Colin, you have made some great first gun purchases!!! Thank you Ray! I appreciate that. I like to think I have good taste Quality over quantity IMO. Although it seems a lot of people have no love for Kimber Oh well, the proof is in the puddin'. We'll see what happens when I take her to the range. georgemc 18 Posted February 24, 2011 Took this one off from Ray...she's in good hands now. Buffed out the barrel bushing, spring retention cap and slide lock. Then polished it to get the stainless steel look. Also installed new trigger.
