Here is what my SS GI looks like with the Wilson Combat drop in grip safety and hammer. I also put in that trigger.

Jermz, You say they're GI models, but you have beavertail grip safety on them. Did you do that yourself too? I have a Milspec without the beaver tail and the hammer is "biting" my hand. Sp I'm thinking of installing the beaver tail...Let me know if you did it yourself.

Yeah I did it myself. Its a Wilson Combat Drop in Grip Safety. You can use any commander sized hammer. Ive never taken apart a 1911 and was able to do it. I just watched a youtube video on how to break down the 1911. It was a lot easier to do then I thought.

Ok cool thanks..i was looking at some on brownells and they made it seems like some filing had to be done to the radius, which they sell a guide tool. I would like to avoid filing the frame in any way if possible since mine is a park finish.

This is the one that I have. I didn't have to file anything. There is a little gap, but that is just because its a drop in part, It

functions perfect.

A 1911 in .40 I built for myself using a fusion kit.

MY_1911.jpg

A 2011 I had built for me (since the pick went with a medium length flat insert and a tungsten guide rod).

I have others, but those are the two I still have yet to beat the snot out of. The others are all somewhere between pretty and new and obviously well worn. So mostly they jsut look like I ahven't taken care of them rather than have shot them a lot.

Very Nice. On the 2011, did Gans Guns do the slide work? It looks like his cuts.

My first 1911 is a Springfield Stainless GI with MilSpec white dot sights and custom grips. In the background is my new Dan Wesson CCO (still virgin). I'd like to get an Officer size 1911 next, maybe a New Agent.
