Hey guys I just picked up a model 39 and am pretty pleased with it. Anyone a fan of this model? Is there anything I should be careful of?

Not 100 % sure got it from a guy I work with....39-2 is all I got

The "-2" means that it is the second engineering change. I don't remember what they were, but there were some glitches in the original 39 and supposedly the "-2's" corrected all of those and is the more desirable model.

Great pistols, ultra reliable and durable but with two primary issues. The factory sights kind of suck and the front sight is integral, so changing it is difficult at best. The most significant thing to be aware of is that the pistol is not drop safe unless the safety is on. It isn't equipped with a firing pin safety so if it's dropped on the hammer or muzzle with the safety off it's likely to discharge.
