XDJohnTact 49 Posted April 15, 2011 Thanks! I guess one would find that at an Army Navy store? I just borrow a post hole digger from the range, or bring a small spade.
Caine 147 Posted April 15, 2011 I find the post hole diggers at Dix to be awkward and slow. You can find e-tools at Army Navy stores... camping stores.. online.. they're pretty easy to find. I use this one: http://www.amazon.com/Gerber-22-41578-Gorge-Folding-Shovel/dp/B000WZCSTO
Krdshrk 3,872 Posted April 15, 2011 Yeah gotta bring your own targets. They sell simple cardboard targets on 1x2's that you can dig in pretty easy. I suggest you guys find some real estate signs or the ad poster thingys in the ground for political/etc signs and liberate those
XDJohnTact 49 Posted April 15, 2011 Those little shovels are great, when it is dry! It is going to rain Saturday night and the last thing I want to do is kneel down in the mud and wet sand to dig a hole for my target?
APD123 0 Posted April 15, 2011 Last year around this time I went to Ft. Dix and brought a 1 1/2" spade bit on a cordless drill and that seamed to work fairly well. I watched guys really struggle with the post hole diggers that they have there and it didnt look like fun.
XDJohnTact 49 Posted April 15, 2011 That's because you young whippersnappers do not understand the mechanics of a fine tool like a post hole digger. Everything is plug it in and use power tools.

APD123 0 Posted April 15, 2011 Glad to see somebody else on this forum use "whippersnappers" - we're watching you youngsters. Us young whippersnappers just don't want to show off by digging so fast Ive also brought 5 or so phone books and duct taped them together then taped a piece of 5' high cardboard to that to staple my targets onto. Its a good dig free option if its not windy or raining. Also, the phone books are fun to shoot at when you get board of the targets.
Dan 177 Posted April 15, 2011 We can shoot at stuff on the ground at Ft Dix? We used to be able to at CJ, until something JCP&L complaining that their lineman working on the towers behind the berms were hearing ricochets wizz past them. It was determined it was probably from ricochets off of the ground when shooting at ground targets. Others think they are making it up and just being pricks. Now we have to shoot at stuff 5ft off the ground minimum, or if its clearly on the bottom of the berm.
Caine 147 Posted April 15, 2011 If the target is on the ground it has to be at least at the 25 yd line at Dix.

Krdshrk 3,872 Posted April 15, 2011 Yeah I'll have water bottles/etc for targets on the ground. Does anyone have any shooting stand or sandbags? I'm going to need some help sighting in 2 rifles.
lunker 274 Posted April 15, 2011 If I make it early, I have a Harris Bipod. I may be making it later though. It's a little up in the air right now. Trying to clear everything with the fiance.

XDJohnTact 49 Posted April 16, 2011 Picking up my nephew in Lacey around 8am and heading out. Hope to get a lane, maybe all the rain and threat of a muddy field will dissuade the regulars from coming out?

nred 5 Posted April 16, 2011 I'll be there at 7:30 tomorrow. If anyone wants to be "guested", just look for a good looking guy in a Porcshe Carrera GT, with the super sexy model girlfriend. I'll be the goofy looking asian next to them, ogling the hottie from my silver Honda, probably humming a Justin Bieber song. If you send me a PM, I'll reply with my cell phone. I'm easy like that.
Krdshrk 3,872 Posted April 16, 2011 I'll try to get there around 8:30. Might be there around 9 - I have to go home and grab my gear/stuff, make a couple stops, then i'll be there.
