Krdshrk 3,877 Posted April 12, 2011 Thanks, nred. I think Lunker may call but we'll see. If you get around to it first that would be great. I have a whole bunch of people coming with me now, apparently. Phew. Current Roll Call: Krdshrk +5 or more. nw901 0 Posted April 12, 2011 Will I be able to attend this if I don't have and FID yet and need to be guested in?
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted April 13, 2011 Put me on the no-go list I'm sorry for starting a meet-up that I can't attend but this is really more important.
nred 5 Posted April 13, 2011 I just called and they told me that the rifle range is first come first serve only - no reservations. You can only reserve lanes for the pistol range.
lunker 274 Posted April 13, 2011 That is BS. We did it last year. I suspect they weren't happy afterwards and don't do it any more. Thanks for calling though.
nred 5 Posted April 13, 2011 Yeah, I guess we just have to get there before 8am.
lunker 274 Posted April 13, 2011 I usually show up at 7:30 to be safe. It is a drag getting there that early on a Sunday morning.
nred 5 Posted April 13, 2011 I'll be there at 7:30. Weather.com says there's a 30% of rain on Sunday. Not really a problem for me.

bbk 188 Posted April 14, 2011 I won't be able to make it. Enjoy the range day, fellows and ladies.

Shocker 150 Posted April 14, 2011 So me being a non-member do I just wait somewhere until a member shows up to guest me? Or the RO only goes around checking badges from time to time?
lunker 274 Posted April 14, 2011 So me being a non-member do I just wait somewhere until a member shows up to guest me? Or the RO only goes around checking badges from time to time? To get a lane you need to sign up in the front office. In order to do this you need to be a member or be a guest of a member. I would just get to Ft Dix early and join up with someone who is a member. I would be happy to guest you in. If you live anywhere close, you might want to consider joining. It is a great place to shoot.
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted April 14, 2011 I'm going to join up, but again I'll have a bunch of guests with me. Looks like at least 5 if not more.. lol. I hope you guys can guest 'em in
Turbotezza 1 Posted April 14, 2011 No disrespect intended, but shouldn't the 'guest' spots be made available to forum members first? I'm going to join up, but again I'll have a bunch of guests with me. Looks like at least 5 if not more.. lol. I hope you guys can guest 'em in
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted April 14, 2011 Of course. But looking at the count, it looks like we'll be ok.

It is a great place to shoot. I'm an hour away but if it's fun enough maybe I'll think about joining anyway. I drive that far to work and that's no fun at all. I guess I'll just go straight to the lanes and look for some evil black rifles?
lunker 274 Posted April 14, 2011 Trust me, it'll be fun. It's an hour away for me too, but i make a point of going once a month. Evil Black rifles, Mosins, Garands, M1As, SKS, AK clones. We are a diverse bunch.
Dan 177 Posted April 14, 2011 I'm not worried about the "guesting thing". I would just like to know what to do when I arrive. I was there once before a long time ago, and I don't remember the process, where to pay, prices, etc.
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted April 14, 2011 $3/hour per person. There's a building near the range that you'll see (and we can point out to you) where you can go to pay.

I was there once before a long time ago, and I don't remember the process, where to pay, prices, etc. You shouldn't have any problems. There is only one main building, and that's where you pay and get assigned a lane. It's also where people meet out front. The folks who work there are nice, with the exception of the old codger that walks around trying to steal people's brass. He's a grumpus. He might not even work there for all I know. RecessedFilter 222 Posted April 14, 2011 Not sure if they allow them at Fort Dix, but I'm sure buying a bunch of those exploding targets sold at Cabela's would be a fun time for all you guys.
Shocker 150 Posted April 14, 2011 Oh yeah, do we bring our own targets? Frames?
