MarkWVU02 47 Posted March 30, 2011 Is the recoil reducing stock worth the extra $50 over the NRS model? I'm thinking of trying one of these out on my 590A1 since the lop on the speedfeed stock is super long (I think 14.5 inches). I'm a short guy, 5'9". I'm already aware of the issues with the safety and pistol grip stocks but I figure there are ways around this (leaving the gun unchambered and safety off this way all I have to do is pump once and I'm good to go). vladtepes 1,060 Posted March 30, 2011 I have the cheaper one and it works just fine for me.. 12 gauge is really not that bad to me so maybe I am the wrong person to ask... but the recoil is definitely manageable..
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted March 30, 2011 Ask Px4Storm - Feliks has one on his Mossberg 500.

I don't find the recoil to be all that bad on the 12 gauge. I'm looking to shorten the lop
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted March 30, 2011 Will your stock fit a Mossberg 500? I have an adjustable stock I'll trade you
MarkWVU02 47 Posted March 30, 2011 It's a speedfeed that came with a 590A1. What stock is that?
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted March 30, 2011 I'm pretty sure the Mossberg 500/590 have stocks that can be interchangeable. Not sure which one mine is - it's an AR style adjustable stock that came with it.
Tactical Monkey 51 Posted March 30, 2011 Are you the only one shooting it? I put the Knoxx recoil reducing stock on my win 1300 so my wife can easily handle it... it definetly reduces recoil and muzzle rise, that's for sure. Just my .
MarkWVU02 47 Posted March 30, 2011 Will your stock fit a Mossberg 500? I have an adjustable stock I'll trade you is it m or is the comb on that stock super low. Looks much lower than the knoxx. Maybe it's just the angle.
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted March 30, 2011 Yes it does angle down a bit. It helps with sight acquisition actually.
MarkWVU02 47 Posted March 30, 2011 I think I'm going to try and order the knoxx. It's less then $50 from midway and doesn't seem to have such a low comb. I'd like to hold on to the speedfeed in case I don't like the adjustable stock. This way I have a backup.
MarkWVU02 47 Posted March 30, 2011 I appreciate the offer. I'll let you know if I decide to get rid of the speedfeed

Ray Ray 3,566 Posted April 13, 2011 Have you thought about the Hogue youth stock? I'm not joking, it's got a short length of pull and it has good recoil reducing pads. I'm not a fan of collapsable stocks on shotguns (anymore). I'm 6'5 so the longer the better for me.

I got the knoxx which I like but am always willing to try other things. Maybe I'll sell the speedfeed stock which is now laying around to fund a hogue stock. I'm 5'9 so I need a shorter pull.
