tony357 386 Posted March 31, 2011 If radiation is being found in west coast milk, the radiation levels in japan are very bad despite what they claim..One other thing i hate is how they refer to levels being less than plane rides and so on.. add them all up together and the long term affects cannot be good.. WASHINGTON — The Environmental Protection Agency and the Food and Drug Administration say that very low levels of radiation have turned up in a sample of milk from the West Coast state of Washington. (Iodine-131 has a very short half-life — only about eight days.) Results from a March 25 milk sample taken from Spokane, Wash., show levels of radioactive Iodine-131 that are still 5,000 times below levels of concern set by the FDA, including levels set for infants and children. The EPA said it is increasing the level of nationwide monitoring of milk, precipitation and drinking water following the crisis at Japan's Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear complex. In Japan, sales of milk and spinach have been banned in the areas near the damaged nuclear power plant. Here in the U.S., Japanese foods make up less than 4 percent of all U.S. imports — mostly seafood, snack foods and processed fruits and vegetables. The FDA has said it expects no risk to U.S. food supply from radiation. “Radiation is all around us in our daily lives, and these findings are a miniscule amount compared to what people experience every day. For example, a person would be exposed to low levels of radiation on a round trip cross country flight, watching television, and even from construction materials,” Patricia Hansen, an FDA senior scientist, said in a statement. mipafox 438 Posted April 1, 2011 I doubt there is any danger to us. But one thing's for sure. If there is, they won't tell us. We never find out until it's too late. EDIT: You April Fools bastards. I see what you're doing, and I beat you
