nuffice 0 Posted September 18, 2011 they have this for sale old fsb has to come off this has to be put on bayo lug removed and have the brake pinned or welded on. But Im not sure who would be able to do this http://www.dinzagarms.com/saiga_762x39/74fsb.html

But Im not sure who would be able to do this http://www.dinzagarms.com/saiga_762x39/74fsb.html So rather than having the old front sight block taken off, this new one pinned on, shaved down, repainted, and then the brake welded on....why not have a brake welded on the current barrel? Seems like it would be cheaper, and you don't have to sight the rifle in again.
nuffice 0 Posted September 18, 2011 Because my front sight block is canted and from what I have read the barrel shroud has to be cut off to make a brake fit. But I don't know because I am not a smith.
Pew Pew Plates 358 Posted September 18, 2011 Because the barrels aren't threaded, the FSB is threaded 24mm assuming you are talking about the '74 style brake. You can't mount that to the barrel unless you do some real bubba stuff to it.
nuffice 0 Posted September 19, 2011 So what do you recommend
Pew Pew Plates 358 Posted September 19, 2011 If you want a '74 style brake you have no choice but to replace the front sight base with one of these http://gunbroker.com/ then grind off the bayonet lug ears and weld on a brake
vjf915 456 Posted September 19, 2011 Of you could avoid all that work, just be a man, and shoot the rifle
nuffice 0 Posted September 19, 2011 Haha glen do you know who does that kind of work?
Pew Pew Plates 358 Posted September 19, 2011 http://mygunsnorthwest.com/ He does it for $20 IIRC, gotta ship it though. I would trust him more than anyone though. He builds AKs from scratch.

imperialfish 11 Posted September 20, 2011 I cut the shroud and threaded the barrel, then had Paterson gunsmith pin JTac 47 muzzle break. There are some good threads on saiga 12 on how to do so. You might get lucky and have a saiga with the barrel threaded already. Call Paterson gun smith he should be able to do it.
StarWarsGeek45 5 Posted September 22, 2011 No one in the state can take a fsb off put a new one on with a muzzle brake unreal. Why not DIY? The hole then has a dimple drilled into it, welded over, and smoothed with a file once more and painted.
