glenhunter 0 Posted November 23, 2011 What are your thoughts on the best turkey/deer 12 ga. shotgun for under $600 . Thanks in advance gh
henrym 19 Posted November 23, 2011 Are you set on an action type yet? If we knew a little more about how you plan to hunt (drive vs stand) it might be little easier to find a gun thats a good fit.
glenhunter 0 Posted November 23, 2011 Ground blind, pump shotgun, 12 ga. So far my heart's set on a Browning BPS Hunter simply for it's bottom ejection being a natural lefty. Also like the Mossberg 835 Ultra Mag with deer/turkey barrels in camo pattern. Other than those two I am looking for a few more suggestions so when I drive to Cabelas in PA, I'll have options if they're out of stock on one or another. Thanks. gh
Krdshrk 3,872 Posted November 23, 2011 Mossberg Field/Deer combo and the Remington 870 Scoped combo are both available at Dick's Sporting Goods for under $500.
BlackOps Badger 52 Posted November 23, 2011 Also, try the forum price check feature. A local dealer may have something you like at a price that's better than Cabela's. Support your local FFL's. Price Request
Parker 213 Posted November 23, 2011 Both the BPS and 835 have overbored barrels and should throw nice patterns for heavy turkey loads. Both can be had with with a rifled slug barrel for shooting modern sabots for deer. The Browning is all-steel, has a 3" chamber, while the 835 has an aluminum receiver and a 3.5" chamber. Pick the 3.5" chambered gun if you feel the desire for waterfowl although it's not imperative. I have seen how well an 835 throws a pattern of 2 oz. of lead shot with a 3" shell, but I also like the design of the Browning. (I also roll my eyes when I see something called "Tactical Turkey" that Mossberg offers in the 835, but I suspect it sells like hotcakes.) Pick the shotgun what feels and shoulders the best for you and run with it.
Jon 264 Posted November 23, 2011 Remington 870 Supermag w/ extra rifled/cantilever barrel. Good to go for any game in North America.
