That's a simple solution. Go with out her a d don't tell her. If she sees it at some point you say "oh I had that a while. All those things hanging you can tell I do use.

Get a few guys outfitted like Roman Legionaries, and no zombie apocalypse shall thwart you. Scutum, Gladius, and Pilum are far superior to guns and ammunition. Especially when executed with the proper tactics. Ideally a combination of both Roman-style fighting weapons and a bit of marksmanship is the way to go.
