Zell959 40 Posted February 17, 2012 Hey, anyone get a reply to pre-reg emails to Tom Richards for the Somerset match this weekend? My buddy shot him an email earlier this week and just hadn't heard back. Don't want to pester him, but just hoping to shoot in the match.
Ian S 22 Posted February 17, 2012 No, no reply to my email sent last Sunday.
Krdshrk 3,871 Posted February 17, 2012 No reply either.
vjf915 456 Posted February 17, 2012 I also didn't receive a reply. I asked (Pizza) Bob, and he also hasn't received a reply. I sure hope everything is okay with him...
Shocker 150 Posted February 17, 2012 I've NEVER gotten a reply to any of my emails...that being said, Cam ran the practice on Wednesday instead of Tom. Maybe he's out of town?
Krdshrk 3,871 Posted February 17, 2012 He's probably busy with work. I was gonna try to make the practice but I didn't get home from work 'till late.
Ian S 22 Posted February 17, 2012 I've NEVER gotten a reply to any of my emails...that being said, Cam ran the practice on Wednesday instead of Tom. Maybe he's out of town? Normally? So you just show up? That didn't work for me my first time. I know running through the setup and safety with a newb is time consuming, but I'd want confirmation that I'm on the list before I plan my day.
Krdshrk 3,871 Posted February 17, 2012 Yeah - He generally doesn't reply so just show up if you've emailed him and got no reply.
ChrisJM981 924 Posted February 17, 2012 I sent an email the other day. I hope an email secures a spot. I'd hate to drive all the way out there and not be able to shoot. Cleaning my gun tonight. Running the subcompact for giggles.
Jon 264 Posted February 18, 2012 I'll be there, shooting CDP for the first time but with a very non-CDP weapon
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted February 18, 2012 Tom must have been out of town as I just received confirmation from him. j0n: Is this a new toy? Maybe a Sig P220?
MrP 81 Posted February 18, 2012 Tom has been on vacation but the match is still on for Sunday. See you all there! EDIT- If you have never emailed Tom for a spot and then failed to show up, he will try very hard to get you a spot. I wouldn't worry.
Jon 264 Posted February 19, 2012 Tom must have been out of town as I just received confirmation from him. j0n: Is this a new toy? Maybe a Sig P220? Nope. Plastic fantastic with 8 round mags, and NOT an HK!
Maksim 1,504 Posted February 19, 2012 So how was it?
Ian S 22 Posted February 19, 2012 It was a good day. Tom puts together some interesting scenarios that can trip you up if you go on automatic pilot and forget the order. And as a bonus, every scenario was set on a caribbean island. Really, thanks to all the SO's for putting in the effort. For my second time, it was really relaxed and fun. Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted February 19, 2012 Before the scores actually come out, I want to congrtaulate vjf915 for an outstanding performance today. He is classified a Marksman in SSP, but I think he shot that Ruger well enough to have possibly finished first overall - not just in division, but overall. If not, I know he has to be in the top 5. He shot consistently fast and well and only dropped a total of 3 points (1.5 seconds) the entire match. It was one of those "Perfect Storms" for Victor. Congrats on some fine shooting. Nice not to be the only revolver shooter today - there were a total of 5 of us today. 3 in ESR and 2 in SSR. Short, simple interesting stages that required you to keep your head in the game. Adios, Pizza Bob

Sandbagger Today was procedurals day for me - accidentally re-engaged a target from the other side, and accidentally double-tapped when I was supposed to do 1-2-
Jon 264 Posted February 20, 2012 No-shoots need to get out of my line of fire. Bastards shouldn't be standing in the middle of a gunfight...
vjf915 456 Posted February 20, 2012 No-shoots need to get out of my line of fire. Bastards shouldn't be standing in the middle of a gunfight... Just remember. The first time you hit a no-shoot, it's a no-shoot penalty...after that, it's just soft cover for the BG
Shocker 150 Posted February 20, 2012 Victor would have stolen the show if those Experts hadnt shown up. Sounded like machine guns on some stages! EDIT: I meant Master. Two Master shooters.
ChrisJM981 924 Posted February 20, 2012 I managed to avoid procedurals, non-threats, and failure to neutralize. I need to wear my NJGF shirt next time so you guys can come say hello. I recognized some of the faces but I haven't shot idpa in a while so I can't remember who's who. Second in my class and I finally edged out Nick. Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted February 20, 2012 Victor is not one to toot his own horn, but I am, so I'll do so by saying I was correct, Victor finished in the top 5. Number three to be specific and the only two scores that beat him were shot by Master Class shooters. One hell of a performance Vic. Of course we expect the same high performance weekend after next at Shongum - no pressure here. Congrats again. Adios, Pizza Bob

Although I seem to do better at IDPA than USPSA, so I can't make any promises for Shongum.
Jon 264 Posted February 20, 2012 Anyone have videos?
vjf915 456 Posted February 20, 2012 I actually have three videos of my guest, Krystian. I was actually quite impressed with his performance, as it was his first time in an action pistol match, and his first time ever firing that pistol.
Krdshrk 3,871 Posted February 21, 2012 Second in my class and I finally edged out Nick. All cuz i tanked the first stage. I went up 2nd and messed myself up. The other stages i did pretty well, Got 5th on the 2nd stage
