Refinishing

Re-blued or whatever ya call it lol

 

I have a friend with an old side by side and he wants to get the Metal refinished.. He lives in Toms River but wouldn't mind traveling to have it done by someone reputable..

 

He say's it needs 0 work except to be refinished.. Can anyone recommend someone either in his area or just someone that does quality work??

It's an old Zabalay, made in Spain for Richland Arms if that matters...

Second bluing question of the day.

Have to be REAL careful. Some of the old doubles has soft soldered barrel and cannot be hot blued.

If they are not rust blued you may end up with two sets of barrels...Get my drift?

He's saying if its not done right it will split the 2 barrels apart, no more side by side lol. Did he ever think of sending it out?? Maybe his best option. Or going new school buying a dura coat kit and do it himself

Does anyone know of a place that can Duracoat then? Is it something you do Nick, or should he send something like this to someone else??

 

I don't know his intentions with the gun, whether it'll be a wall hanger or he intends to fire it..

If it has case hardening on it forget it, if it's just blued then that is easaly done.

Pay for parts and a bottol of 18 year old Schatch and it can be done.
