DblEGT 1 Posted March 21, 2012 Should I ever want to swap one handgun for another (trade with somebody), is this something that can easily be done? Or do I need another permit to do this? Also, I assume it all has to go thru a FFL to keep it legal? Let me know....thanks, Dbl E GT
autoxnyc 4 Posted March 21, 2012 You each need a permit to do the transfer.
lunker 274 Posted March 21, 2012 it does not have to go through an f f l to be legal as long as the person you're trading with is also a new jersey resident and you both have a permit to purchase. think of it as 2 separate sales rather than a swap . RubberBullets 65 Posted March 21, 2012 In order to take ownership of a handgun you will need another pistol purchase permit.. That goes for whoever you are trading with as well. Forms would have to be filled out properly and submitted by the seller to the appropriate agency. This is called a face to face transaction, no FFL required as long as you are both residents of NJ...acquiring handguns from out of state require them to be shipped to an FLL to take ownership.
