Good inexpensive red dot sight for a Ruger Mark III?

Recommended Posts

The Bushnell TRS-25 is pretty similar to the PA Micro red dot. This does you no good, but a few months ago you could pick them up for 70 bux with a $30 mail in rebate, which really made them a steal for .22 applications. Sadly, they're in the $80+ range these days.

NJdiverTony where is the diving pic taken? I am a diver also and Noticed the Doubles. Is that Tri-Mix your huffing on?

Hey there! :-). That picture was actually taken in a quarry, in Pennsylvania. Yep, you're right about the doubles... Steel high pressure 120's with Nitrox. I've taken several tech diving courses but have chosen to stick with Nitrox for my recreational diving, which is usually off the coast of NJ on the many wrecks we have. I've looked into rebreathers in the past but the risk kind of turned me off. I knew a couple of people that had fatal accidents using rebreathers, so since I have a wife and kids now, I play it safe and stick with rec diving.

Where do you dive?

I put a TRS-25 on my Mark III and it's working out great, so far. Nice little sight for the money. I really liked the Burris FastFire III with the custom Mark III mount that Burris makes for it, but didn't like the cost ($250+).

Awesome! Cave diving is cool... I've done some Cenote/cave diving in Mexico... and loved it. Haven't made it up to the Great Lakes yet, but plan to eventually... there are some great wrecks there.

Ultra-dot, or the similar Millet.

WHOA! Ultradot's reflex sight goes for $300? And it gets terrible reviews.

Yikes.

I'd try to find the Primary Arms reflex sight. I read somewhere that they are getting new stock this month (august).

Or, the Burris Fastfire as a much more expensive 2nd choice.

I used to have the Primary Arms Micro Green Dot Reflex on my mk2, mounted in the rear dovetail using the burris fastfire mount. Excellent sight at about $75. Perfect sight picture for steel and obrams. I found a used burris fastfire2 (about $140) to replace it, and now that PA sight is on a 223, it holds up extremely well and maintains its zero perfectly. The Burris Fastfire2 is a red dot, and a sharper dot compared to the PrimaryArms.

    • In 50 years of living in NJ I've never experienced any attempt to inspect the interior of the home, and only one definite inspection of the exterior for an announced reassessment of all properties and that was a drive by. About 9 years of that was living in an apartment, but still, uncommon. Every place I lived had either a finished attic, basement, or both. But they were also included in the habitable square footage on the taxes when we got there.
    • 27.00 and change in tolls to drive down the shore from Rutherford,  47.00 in tolls to go out to Long island to visit dying relatives. Now I read they are going to raise the fees in the DMV. Murphy lied just to get elected when he said that seniors will get a significant tax break with his StayNJ" program to stop us from leaving.   Keep voting for democrats...this is what you get.  Tax and spend is all they know.  Never cut anything.  This state sucks.
