Nj described very well

"Talk to anyone from New Jersey, and they will either know of, be related to, or aspire to move to either North Carolina or Florida. In fact, it's well known that if you grew up and still live in New Jersey, the chances that you'll be moving to either of these two states at some point in your life are extraordinarily high, whether you believe it or not"

That is true, I have friends who live in NC and FL who used to live in New Jersey at one time.

I want to move deep into Pennsylvania myself.

I have actually encountered the use of the Jersey Parkway to indicate relative distance, so I can affirm that. I myself don't use that road at all. 295 and 55 is what I usually use.

Also, deep South Jersey around the Tuckahoe area and south of that is pretty much the Alabama version of NJ. They hate northerners. If you can fit in with hicks, you'll do fine.

Excellent post Shawn. Not just South, but Southwest too. I spent some years in Arizona and I was surprised at how many folks I met out there were originally from New Jersey.

I was just out there for a week and I met at least a dozen folks from back east. But if you go to the smaller towns (I had the occasion to go to Willcox, Florence, Bisbee and some other little burgs) you'll find plenty of home-grown Arizonans, most of whom LOVE their 2A rights and their guns.

That state just moved past NC and FL on my retirement destinations list.....

"White Castle hamburgers are about the size of the palm of your hand, made of pure USDA-certified beef (Ukranian Socialist Department of Agriculture)."

That was pretty funny....We also have White Castle here in Kentucky too.

i dont like how it basically says: Monmouth County = Crime. What about high prop values? Good Schools? Family Communities?!?

Does it really matter? On the whole NJ sucks and that entire article was spot on right down to the self proclaimed italians who were born here

and can't utter a word in italian.. Me, I'm American. Highest cancer rate in the Nation, highest taxes, highest insurance rates, highest cost of living etc etc.

How about high salaries, good food, lots of pub transportation, jobs, beaches, proximity to city. Lots of good stuff here too.

I didnt read the article, was just looking at the map...

You mean the busses that come once an hour and if you want to transfer you go to Walter Rand in Camden? PATCO that goes a whole 30 miles into NJ? The River Line with no express service that runs from Camden to Trenton?

If I want to take public transit from my house to NYC, I need to walk ~1.5 miles to the PATCO station, take PATCO to 8th & Market. Transfer to SEPTA Market St to 30th St station. Transfer to AMTRAK/NJ Transit to NYC. Or I can take PATCO to Lindenwald, transfer to NJ Transit to AC. AMTRAK from AC to NYC. Or I can drive 45 minutes to Hamilton and get on NJ Transit there...
