Meanwhile in Other AC news : http://mobile.nj.com...ntguid=6MVBuIAY

From the crazy lady stabber story, my emphasis added:

...She did not know how long she had been in Atlantic City, which has long been a magnet for the homeless, some of whom are bused there by welfare agencies from other counties and cities. ...

Really? Is this commonplace? Other towns using AC as a dumping ground for their problem people? What do they do, lure them on the bus with a bag lunch and a pack of cigs and then boot them out on the boardwalk?

AC has some things that attract the undesirable people. AC has a rescue mission, multiple soup kitchens, drugs, alcohol stores all over, hookers and Crown Fried Chicken (mmmmm; gastrointestinal distress). The place is a sh!thole and that's a fact.

Once; one of AC's alcoholic, troublemaking bums was given a bus ticket to NYC, he was sent back with 2 friends. So yes, it is also a dumping ground for other places.

The have to be warehoused somewhere. Better there than here.

I am sure the good people that live outside of AC feel that way.. maybe other places should DEAL with their problems instead of making them OTHER peoples problems.. I wish you a lot of luck when the Atlantic Citys of the world fill up and they start dumping cracked out psychopaths in your front yard..

You would think that with the state creating a tourism district and trying to sell the town as the place to be that one of the top priorities would be to get the homeless and drug issue under control. I hate to use the term dumping ground, but What sense does it make to build tons of shelters and low income housing in an area that you want to attract million dollar investors and families to? Granted that the original idea back in the 70's was to allow gaming to revitalize a deteriorating town, most people held out till their prime property values skyrocketed, sold, then left. What's left is a less than desirable crowd that is on the other end of the spectrum from what you would want in a resort town.

I know for fact that neighboring towns have flat out rejected proposals to build rescue missions and fight tooth and nail to keep section 8 housing away. There has to be a better answer. The problem starts at the federal level. Keep supporting and feeding a system that allows people to live off the government and they have no incentive to go out and better themselves. Now that more people are having kids and raising them on "the system", it's pretty hard to motivate them to grow up and reach for a better life when all they know is to take from everyone else.

This recent murder will be the 3rd and 4th murder of tourists in a little less than 3 years. Two separate car jacking from The Taj resulted in 2 deaths and on person injured, and both were right from the parking garage which is under surveillance This just goes to show you either criminals are getting increasingly stupid, or increasingly desperate. I wont step foot down AC even carrying (cant carry inside the casinos) I rather go to PA casinos, closer and cleaner.

The State gave 256 million in our tax money to a company building a casino, the same year AC laid off 1/4 of it's police force....

The welfare system is a failed social experiment started in the late 50's early 60's and was supposed to be temporary, however several generations of families have now made a profession out of it. The real problem would arise if and when you stop giving the handouts, then the civil unrest starts. People rely on the government to feed their kids and give them money, coddled by the government tit from womb to grave...

This is a little off topic but it will get your blood boiling and is not what our forefathers had in mind :
