Recind law permitting one handgun per month purchase

Recommended Posts

The NJ law permitting one handgun purchase per month should be recinded. With exceptions for multiple purchases as antiquated as the law itself, hopefully enough power can be brought to our legislators to make them see the light. I don't know if this matter has been discussed recently but if so, it needs to be discussed gain.

Why stop there? How about CCW for NJ residents and receding the stupid AWB since those restrictions preceded the OGAM law. In my view if the AWB didn’t happened neither would have the OGAM. The AWB just made it easier for the clowns in Trenton to pile this nonsense on…

Edit:

I forgot the most important part… here is the sponsor of the bill

If you have not done so already, check out the New Jersey Second Ammendment Society www.nj2as.com . They are working to get our crazy gun laws straightened out. If your on Facebook you can look up their page and follow too. It's $35 a year to join, but the meetings are open to anyone for free.

Havent seen you around here, Marc. Welcome.

Yes, it's all nuts. But unless you are a member of NJ2AS and the NRA your post isnt going to do much.

Your state Assembly reps are Lou Greenwald and Pamela Lampit.

You can reach them at 856-435-1247 or visit them in person at:

1101 Laurel Oak Avenue

Suite 150

Voorhees, NJ 08043

Call them up and ask for a meeting to discuss. And while you are at it, join NJ2AS.

That is how we change things.

Those are all worthy causes. But in this state. It is incomprehensibly difficult.

This and a very *few* other states, are completely opposite to almost the rest of the entire Nation.

Now we hear new political doublespeak, like "grid" of firearms laws, on top of all thos "progressive" and "common sense" and "public safety" and on and on and on....

With corruption at it's Highest levels in the Judiciary, you are double bound from all sides to effectively exert Constitutional Laws and principles or even just to promote logic.

In just a decade or two, we've had, AWB 2.0, OGAM, airguns classified as "firearms", myriads of ammo restrictions, highest property taxes in the Nation -effectively making property ownership into a Socialised Collective, turning "homeowners" into Glorified Apartment Dwellers, (anyone can do the math on this).

But good luck, I wish and support anyone willing to take on this Socialist Progressive Goliath.. Goodluck.

I would live with OGAM if I could see the PPP system go away. That's my big headache. In reality, it takes forever to get those permits and extensions every few months just to have them on-hand if you find the need to make a purchase.

I agree. I have no issue with waiting a month between purchases. It's the permit process and headaches that bother me the most.

I have a problem with waiting a month between hand gun purchases and the P2P process and so should everyone else, there is no need for it and no reason for it..

Realize it or not if you think it's ok you have just been beaten down too much,, it's the old take 10 things away let them get used to it and then later give 1 thing back and they will be greatfull, when in the end you still lost 9 things.

It's true. What does buying more than 1 handgun a month change? You're still buying a weapon. What's the difference if you have to wait 30 days to buy another? I understand straw purchases, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't be allowed one a day.

Ya gotta walk, before you can run. Let's fix the permit issue 1st, then the OGAM issue can be tackled.

What is being done to get the permit issue fixed? I can't find anything or anyone doing anything for it, except the bill that was introduced in March, for the second time.

When Bob Viden spoke at the last NJ2AS meeting, he said there was a draft of a bill that would eliminate going to the PD for getting pistol permits. The issue is we are waiting to get a bill number assigned. It was said with all of the budget issues and summer recess, the bill number would not be issued until everyone was back from their summer break.

I'm greatly paraphrasing the speech. Perhaps someone else who also heard the talk could chime in.

I agree with those who say that OGAM is an unnecessary burden, but I also agree that just getting rid to the P2P system would be a good step in the right direction.

Yeah I did hear about this bill and looked it up. It seems as if this bill was first introduced in 2009, if I remember what I read correctly. Why is it still in waiting? And what can we do as enthusiasts to help get this bill passed?

The bill Bob spoke about is new and different from anything currently in que.

The problem we have in NJ with any pro gun bills is the Northern NJ politicians. Its my understanding that when issues are discussed and explained, the North Jersey folks go nuts and get on the rant about how guns are evil.

It sounds Kind of like trying to get a 3 year old to eat their vegetables at dinner time after they tell you no. When you ask them a second time, the kicking and screaming begins because they just don't want to hear it.

One day I hope to be able to legally walk around with a concealed, supressed Glock 18.

I've carried a concealed, suppressed, select fire M11/9. The first time I did it just because I could. Wasn't actually carrying it for SD. The second time I did it as a joke. Unfortunately, transferable Glock 18s are a little out of my price range. So, I'm with you on this one, holding out hope.

Holding out hope for Jersey as well, but not holding my breath at the same time.

Fixed that for you.

We here in the NW part of the state don't give the Democrats the time of day never mind any real votes. The Republicans all vote against all these nonsensical bad gun laws.

We have to figure out how to make the politicians in the rest of the state think that way!

So why am I posting a quote from Harvey Milk?

Because gun owners in New Jersey are quite similar to Gays back in the 1970's. We are not safe in our homes. We are not safe in our vehicles. Every time we step out to go to the range, we are risking arrest and prosecution just for doing something that is constitutionally protected in at least 44 other states.

We are a small percentage of the population. But we can be loud, and we can vote. And we have the power of the constitution behind us. It may take a year, or ten. But it will happen.

Ten years ago, did you think that gays would have a serious shot at getting married or serving in the military openly? Harvey Milk is sitting in heaven right now with a big smile on his face. It took 30 years, but it happened. They were a tiny percentage of the population as well, but they did it. So can we.

If thirty years from now, my kids are able to purchase a gun with only NICS and carry in New Jersey, then it will all be worth it.

I will fight.

Wow. I'd never imagine ever hearing guns and gays being discussed in the same context.

I like this idea, no more pistol permits but keep ogam, not saying I wouldn't want it gone all together, but for more my own financial well being.
