This is the main thing.
Make sure your record is clean before applying or it could be denied which may show up on a backround check. Then you'll have to go though expungement (if possible) and re-apply.
If unsure have an attorney such as Frank Pisano look over your application beforehand.
I had to learn the above the hard way before I finally got my FID.
BTW- as part of the application and they may contact your present employer so be prepared. I furnished the name of friendly manager (not my actual boss at the time) and told them to expect a call.
Nowadays I would say self employed, or unemployed .
Since it's a lower receiver for a rifle, it's a long gun. You can ship long guns via USPS.
