Judge lifts "stay" on CCW in MD. Maybe good news for NJ?

Recommended Posts

It is good to see one of these suits finally showing some promise. They are winding their way to the Supreme Court and soon enough we will have a definitive answer one way or another as to 2A rights outside the home.

I assume their non-resident permit will become shall issue as well.

That alone would be very helpful to us who travel to Florida, or an intermediate coast destination, by car.

As it is right now with a FL non-resident CCW you can carry your handgun once you leave NJ for DE. But then you have to unload and case for MD as per FOPA as it's practically impossible to go around that state. Then you can carry again once you hit VA. Very annoying.

With the MD permit you could carry all the way to the keys. You'd still have to throw your gun, loaded if you please, in the glove box to go through SC but you can do that easily while on the move.

That is not something you want to roll the dice on for certain.

I don't think he means that in a "this is how we plan on getting NJ to be a right to carry state" but rather "If we were ever to become a right to carry state, it will be becuase the Supreme Court ruled CCW is a right."
