The M1911A1 as a military sidearm

Recommended Posts

Rather than cross-post from another forum, you 1911 lovers, (as well as myself), out there will appreciate the thread started here by Retired USMC Master Gunnery Sgt. Gus Fisher.

Little bit of a lengthy read, but well worth it imho...

John,

This is an OUTSTANDING thread you linked to!

Gus is the consumate 1911 armorer.

I have been a 1911 shooter since the late 70s when I bought my Series 70 Gold Cup at Colosimo's (r.i.p.) in Philly

Two used stainless Colt Series 80s (1 Gold Cup, 1 Govt) since then, and my latest, a Springfield WWII replica from Capt Mike here on NJGF

The Springfield truly is WWII style, appetite-wise, as it won't cycle my 200gr LRNFP (that my XD45 collection loves) worth a damn.

So there's 230gr ball pills on the way from Midway, just for my new friend!

Glad ya liked it. I usually read those threads early while having my first cup of Joe, but coffee wasn't ready yet and I had to keep reading. Interesting dude and read for sure.

That's the kinda guy I could sit and bs with for hours...
