Also got an order in - their server is very slow, must be getting hammered.

Great deal, conversion bolt + 4 mags for $149.50 shipped!

If you're having trouble finding the page for extra magazines try this link:

Noticed you ordered the generate black dog magazines. They are not the x-form type that comes with the conversion kit. But at $10.00 less, are they any good?

I tested mine yesterday. Worked great with my cci mini mags. Pretty accurate. Cycled good. No issues.

I figured I'd try out the bulk Winchester white box crap I have in it even though it recommends high velocity ammo. Most of it will cycle but too many fte for it to be worth it.

But again they recommend premium high velocity .22 Not the bulk stuff

Got mine to the range today. Didn't spend a whole lot of time with it as I was focused on sighting in another rifle and trying out my 870 for the first time. I ran through each of the 4 magazines once. Didn't have any malfunctions that weren't ammo based(one round didn't fire but had a solid dent on the rim from the firing pin), but there are a couple of minor annoyances:

- When I load the magazines up with 15 rounds the .22 bolt won't a strip a round out of the magazine, just appears to glide over it. I had to remove the magazine, pull out the 15th round and then put it back in with 14 rounds so that the bolt would feed a around.

- Every time I fired I felt like my right cheek was getting peppered. I think there's gas blowback through the back of the charging handle. It was more annoying than painful but I'd strongly recommend wearing good eye pro when running the .22LR conversion.

I finally got to test mine out yesterday. I did test this on a rifle I just completed. We completed sighting it out for 100 yds using PMC 223. Once we got solid groupings, we switched out to the conversion kit and tested it out at 25 yds. I'm using the Federal bulk stuff. I can't recall any specific failures although I recall having some feeding some rounds in and perhaps a double although that was probably induced by me. Not a big deal to clear. What concerned me more than there was no grouping at 25 yds.

After 60 rounds, I switched back to 223 afterwards to ensure the gas tube was clear. I am a disappointed with the accuracy though. I think it may have something to do with the 1:7 twist of my barrel which is more suited to heavier stuff. Did anyone get good results from this and what twist rate are you guys using?

Got decent results out of federal bulk and CCI mini mags.

I did notice that the federal bulk would tend to sting my cheek a little bit when firing from the unburned powder. Mini Mags did not.

Oh so much gunk to blow out of that gas tube though.......

Yesterday I visited a local store that has been around for a long time, They had nothing in stock. needless to say I asked about getting a TROY other and the owner was very uptight about it. he said I'll never sell one due to the fact that there is a federal law in the works to stop the sale and any prior sales will be confiscated! I was not happy to hear this but this store has a very bad rep. So a little help here, I looked and saw nothing about this subject on line.

    • I very seriously doubt this has anything to do with terrorism.    1) Harbor pilots are VERY seriously vetted, and highly trained. Not to mention extremely well paid. My experience knowing a few of them, and knowing how they are recruited and screened tells me that there is a slim to highly unlikely chance that a harbor pilot would have participated in anything like that.    2) Maintenance of foreign flag ships is well known to be dubious. Especially these days. These were NOT US flag, Jones act sailors. It was (to my understanding) a largely Indian crew on that ship, with a Ukrainian Captain. Indian crews are not exactly known for being stellar.    3) The bunkers (fuel) these ships use is ‘Bunker C’, which is a heavy, dirty fuel oil that can, and usually is, pretty contaminated. This stuff ain’t your car grade gasoline or diesel fuel. It’s nasty.   It requires nearly constant filter changes and maintenance to the engine/generators. The ship took on fuel prior to departing port, which would stir up all kinds of shit in the fuel tanks, which would contribute to particulates in the fuel lines/filters.    4) I’d say the posting of the chief engineer for Maserek above was pretty spot on as far as chain of events.    This was a shitty accident, with horrible timing and outcome. Not a terror attack.
    • I saw Lara's interview on Bannon's War Room, and that gave me pause for thought. Her conjecture depends primarily on the veracity of her sources. Regardless, if it's not applicable in any way to this ship disaster, the methods described seem valid to me. And worthy of consideration for the future. As I said before, IMO something is coming.
