Caine 147 Posted November 4, 2012 Driving from Secaucus to RTSP via rt 46/rt 10.. About 50% of the gas stations were closed - although unclear whether due to gas availability or electricity being out. I drove around Clifton a bit yesterday evening - mostly Broad St/Allwood Rd/Rt 3 - and I would say it was close to 75% of gas stations closed. Based on the amount of lights I saw, almost all of them seemed to be closed due to lack of gas and not lack of power.
Barms 98 Posted November 4, 2012 Vince Lombardi on Turnpike is like a ten minute wait. I'm serious.
Maksim 1,504 Posted November 4, 2012 This is working itself through, by next week, I doubt there will be lines at all, except in areas where there is still no power. Once again, very few lines if any in Mercer County.
High Exposure 5,634 Posted November 4, 2012 I just left the Highland Park Lukoil (Rt 27 and Woodbridge Ave) - 5 Minute wait, just like a regular day. They will be open all day.
liquidskin 3 Posted November 4, 2012 Finally got some gas in Westfield. BP on South Ave. 30 min wait and no limit, filled it on credit. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Motofan 10 Posted November 4, 2012 Just filled up in Sayreville 9 south by all star Mitsubishi. Both Sunoco and Exxon are open with no lines as of 5 minutes ago
Motofan 10 Posted November 4, 2012 Correction. 9 north near all star mitsubishi
Maksim 1,504 Posted November 4, 2012 Princeton Junction Shell, no lines. I believe Sunoco on 206 Princeton/Montgomery is now open, albeit expensive ($3.79) is now open and no lines... in fact no cars there.

Krdshrk 3,871 Posted November 5, 2012 Costco in Edison on Route 27 - $3.19/gallon and no line at all. Pulled in, filled up, drove off. They're open 24 hours right now.
halbautomatisch 60 Posted November 5, 2012 I got gas in Denville today, filled five 5 gallon cans, wait was less than 10 minutes.

JamesC 2 Posted November 5, 2012 I ended up taking the girl for a ride south last night and was able to fill up at the turnpike rest area between 7 and 7a. No rationing rule in place and only 1.7 gal burnt returning home.
Malsua 1,422 Posted November 5, 2012 For what it's worth, up north the Vince Lombardi service plaza(on 95) will never run out of fuel and has 15-20 minute lines off rush. Basically after 9:30 and up to about 3pm you can get in and out pretty quick. The lines are big but they have tons of pumps.
TheWombat 67 Posted November 5, 2012 And there was me thinking gas crisis was over. Left the Secaucus office at 5pm today (Monday) and saw all the Secaucus gas stations were closed due to no fuel - this is 7 stations in total along the Route 3 corridor. Surprised as they all have electricity and some were open this morning. I took it for granted that the gas situation was improving and by the time I left the office most, if not all, of the Secaucus stations would be open and restocked during the day. It's not an issue as I have plenty of fuel - just surprising. TheWombat
rtquig 45 Posted November 5, 2012 My son just waited in line at WaWa the line was long but it only took 10 mins. The WaWa on East Vets in Jackson, same place the suspected shooting was last night. I got gas at Lukoil on Rt 70 in Brick and it took me 20 mins. The lines are long but they move pretty quick. So just pick one and wait. I gassed up there this morning, no lines. z2886 0 Posted November 5, 2012 Hess on rt 22 west in Bridgewater had a decent line for cars but they also have a desperate pump for walk ups with cans. When I went earlier the walk up line was empty. Also decided to stop in effingers on way back and handle some .22's.
diamondd817 823 Posted November 6, 2012 Hess 1&9 southbound, right past the refinery plant entrance in Linden, 15 pumps, 4 cars fueling up. All were NY plates.
Krdshrk 3,871 Posted November 6, 2012 Hess is the place to go - their refineries are back open and running. They're running shipments around like crazy.
M4BGRINGO 139 Posted November 6, 2012 I went through Englishtown, Old Bridge, Freehold, Jackson, Millstone, Jamesburg, East Brunswick and South River today., Not one station had more than 4 cars there, practically no lines. Looks like the BS is over, and I bet it was all due to people panicking. Same stations were still closed because they have no power.
High Exposure 5,634 Posted November 6, 2012 FYI: The Hess at 2800 Rt 1 North in North Brunswick (Just past Finnegan's Lane) was accidentally filling cars with Diesel fuel. Apparantly the delivery truck put diesel instead of unleaded in the storage tank for the gas pumps. Any problems call: 732-750-6000
Malsua 1,422 Posted November 6, 2012 Looks like the BS is over, and I bet it was all due to people panicking. Still happening in northern NJ and NY, it's not panic, it's a systemic shortage of fuel delivery.
Maksim 1,504 Posted November 6, 2012 I think it is panic. Over past few days... the Costco deliveries were 3x more frequent than usual. Anywhere south of 195, or exit 8 on the pike, there were no lines and all was business as usual. You put out the word that gas lines... and now anyone with 3/4 of a tank NEEDS to fill up because of the panic.... as well the gobs of people who truly were unprepared and ran out of gas. At about 5:15-5:20pm I drove by the BP on Rt 3W (right off of 495) and there were about 10 cars in line and it seemed to be moving well. I saw one more open station on 3 West around that time that had a relatively short line but I can't remember if it was the Hess near Harmon Cove or the Sunaco further west on 3. Malsua 1,422 Posted November 6, 2012 Anywhere south of 195, or exit 8 on the pike, there were no lines and all was business as usual. Yeah, because south of 195, 95% of the gas stations are open and North of there it drops to 25%. You guys in central jersey just aren't seeing what we see up here. It is getting better, but on Saturday, for example, there was simply no where to get gas without waiting at least 90 minutes, if you could find a station open. I ended up driving to PA. Easy to say...... Come on up to Morris / Sussex County...... see the 50+ people on line at the open gas stations waiting to fill their containers to power their generators ...... In the 12mi trip from Parsippany to Rockaway...... I pass station after station that is closed either from lack of power or out of gas......

This I pass station after station that is closed either from lack of power or out of gas...... Plus this. I think it is panic. It's not. Things are genuinely different up here. Things seem to be getting better and better every day.. whether it's because most people filled up over the weekend or because more gas is starting to find it's way up here, I can't say. But, just because you're not experiencing it, doesn't mean it's not really happening.
JustJoe 0 Posted November 6, 2012 Just an FYI, you don't need to be a costo member to purchase gas at their NJ locations.
High Exposure 5,634 Posted November 6, 2012 A friend of mine owns over 50 gas stations in NJ. He normally gets 70 fuel deliveries daily. He told me yesterday that even pulling every string he has, he is fighting to get 3 loads daily. It is absolutely not just panic.
