What I bought today...

Recommended Posts

I've seen this on a few other boards I'm a member in and they always yield some interesting side conversations.

The item(s) do not need to be gun related just something you bought today. It's a fun way to see how we go about our days...

With Christmas around the corner, I spent a couple of hours surfing the web and ordered a few SkinIt covers and new "favorite" team shirts for my kids. For recent gun related items I picked up a decent single gun bag/rug from Walmart...

Who's next?

I picked up a Christmas Tree to help get the wife's mind off of the damage to the house from the flood, just trying to get her to move FWD.

I figured if she could decorate it would ease her mind some and get it moving in a positive thought process..

we can spend the day today decorating inside and out..

progress is slow and getting all the paperwork together nothing can be done until the engineers report is finalized and then the contractors can draw up estimates for repairs..

Picked up a Dive Rite Framless Mask:

It is very light, being frameless it sits closer to my face and the single window increases my field of vision by about 37%.

Also picked up a Edge Gear EXP Coldwater Regulator for my pony bottle, also picked up 36" Yellow flex hose to go with it:

to go with it I got a 1" SPG to tie into the reg.

and finally I got a hose band for my pony bottle:

That is what the whole set up will look like on my tank.

Was at Home Depot picking up X-Mas decorations and saw one of the lifts driving through with a shrink wrapped pallot and line 15 people following it. Went for a closer to look and it was carrying 5 gallon cans of gasoline towards the isle to get stocked. It was weird watching the entire pallet go as soon as the guy cut them loose. Didn't even have time to hit the shelf. I can't believe these are still a hot item. I was not able to pick up one.

Excellent phone. If you already have an iPhone, it's even better than the old ones. I upgraded from an iPhone 4 to the 5 - it's so much faster.

It's amazing how people are so stuck on speed. 5 is faster than 4....but do you know that iphone 4 is probably 10x faster than the computers used to control the Apollo Missions to the moon?

LOL

That's because you don't need a powerful computer to hide in a movie studio and fake a moon landing :).

    • I very seriously doubt this has anything to do with terrorism.    1) Harbor pilots are VERY seriously vetted, and highly trained. Not to mention extremely well paid. My experience knowing a few of them, and knowing how they are recruited and screened tells me that there is a slim to highly unlikely chance that a harbor pilot would have participated in anything like that.    2) Maintenance of foreign flag ships is well known to be dubious. Especially these days. These were NOT US flag, Jones act sailors. It was (to my understanding) a largely Indian crew on that ship, with a Ukrainian Captain. Indian crews are not exactly known for being stellar.    3) The bunkers (fuel) these ships use is ‘Bunker C’, which is a heavy, dirty fuel oil that can, and usually is, pretty contaminated. This stuff ain’t your car grade gasoline or diesel fuel. It’s nasty.   It requires nearly constant filter changes and maintenance to the engine/generators. The ship took on fuel prior to departing port, which would stir up all kinds of shit in the fuel tanks, which would contribute to particulates in the fuel lines/filters.    4) I’d say the posting of the chief engineer for Maserek above was pretty spot on as far as chain of events.    This was a shitty accident, with horrible timing and outcome. Not a terror attack.
    • I saw Lara's interview on Bannon's War Room, and that gave me pause for thought. Her conjecture depends primarily on the veracity of her sources. Regardless, if it's not applicable in any way to this ship disaster, the methods described seem valid to me. And worthy of consideration for the future. As I said before, IMO something is coming.
