555wrx 0 Posted December 17, 2012 I went to purchase an AR lower today at Bullseye Tactical (great place if you have never been) but couldn't walk away with it because "We can't get in touch with the state" and that "Their system is down" and has been since Saturday apparently. No one I spoke with in the store has any idea why this is happening, or how long they think it will take to come back up. Does anyone have any inside info they can share with the rest of the class? I'd really like to put together the lower I already paid for Thanks for any help!
BlueLineFish 615 Posted December 17, 2012 Pretty convenient if you ask me...no NICS, no guns

Dan 177 Posted December 17, 2012 I did a transaction today with Jet Agent, LLC. He had to fax the request in on their fax form since their phone system was down or whatnot. Took a few hours.
BlueLineFish 615 Posted December 17, 2012 While I was at Casos at least 5 faxes didn't go through
millsan1 3 Posted December 17, 2012 I am in the enviable position of waiting for my NICS to finish at Heritage, so I can go get my other new toy at Casos. Was hoping to have both done today, now it looks like I wont even get 1 done
Socom 19 Posted December 17, 2012 Most likely it's down for a purpose
Steve_G 51 Posted December 17, 2012 This sucks!! I'm planning on picking up my S&W 1911 Pro 9mm tomorrow.
555wrx 0 Posted December 17, 2012 I agree. Let the conspiracy's begin... I'm waiting to get a call back saying: NICS experienced a terminal failure. There will be no more gun sales in NJ until after 12.21.12.... When zombies roam free.
RubberBullets 65 Posted December 17, 2012 Spoke to an ffl that said he called spnics for more info. They had said due to overwhelming demand they shut their phone system down until they catch up
Bully 749 Posted December 17, 2012 My local PD told me that Trenton was down for a week, last week. so things are pretty backed up. I would imagine that a LOT of requests are being processed and the system is overloaded. I'm not quite ready to put on my "tin foil chapeau" yet, but I am learning how to fold one correctly. PK90 3,570 Posted December 17, 2012 NICS is swamped. They just called back with two approvals that I did at 1010 and 1106 hours. Sent from my DROID4

555wrx 0 Posted December 17, 2012 makes sense. While I was in there waiting, he got probably 10-15 phone calls inquiring about buying an AR platform rifle. 'Tis the season I guess.
liquidskin 3 Posted December 17, 2012 Sounds like black Friday all over again.. Wonder how many checks they received today Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
ColtPistols 0 Posted December 18, 2012 I'm still waiting on two NICS checks, one from Saturday and one from today. Apparently they're not taking them in the order received.
555wrx 0 Posted December 18, 2012 Ok, so when I get the go-ahead that my check from today at 11:00 am went through and all is well, i'll let you all know. And if anyone else has an NICS check that goes through, please let us know!! Thanks
myosys 0 Posted December 18, 2012 Considering the speed of modern hardware with regards to automated infrastructure, some explanations are 1) gross misengineering of the NICS system 2) hanging up on incoming NICS requests and going out for a coffee/smoke. 3) malicious understaffing. sheesh. (Waiting on my order with PK90 to clear the NICS "system" . Guess they need to feed the hamsters spinning the generator wheels. )
PK90 3,570 Posted December 18, 2012 8 NICS faxes today and I got two callbacks. The ones done at 10:10AM and 11:06AM were approved at 4:30PM. The other 6 are not yet approved.
johnott 5 Posted December 18, 2012 Hope things calm down after the 1st of the year. I'd like to shop for a rifle and/or shotgun but these runs on guns and ammo really drive up the wait time and the prices.
PK90 3,570 Posted December 18, 2012 I ordered 4 ARs today to replace the ones that sold. The distributor upped the prices $100 per AR over the weekend. I had to pay.
HavocMan 13 Posted December 18, 2012 LMAO ... glad I bought a lower from Ira a few weeks back ... and that I jumped on the M&P 45 I ran across at RTSP a week ago. See? It definately pays to have a few PTP's waiting in the wings - ya never know when you'll need one.
Steve_G 51 Posted December 18, 2012 As expected. No answer from NJ NICS. Just have to sit and wait.

Bagarocks 36 Posted December 18, 2012 Went to pick up my "Assault Weapon" and was told That the State Police aint pickin up the phone. Will have to be faxed in and they will call me when it goes through. They could only say it could take up to 24 to 48 hrs or more. It's out of thier hands. PDM 91 Posted December 18, 2012 Wow. From time to time I questioned why I bought the guns that I did over the past few years. Now I'm glad that I did because I'm beginning to think it may not be too easy to buy anymore for the forseeable future.
Fishpaw 17 Posted December 18, 2012 For long guns, you can always go to PA and buy it there....background check is cheaper there too
njJoniGuy 2,131 Posted December 18, 2012 Cheaper still in Delaware! No sales tax and the NICS call is FREE Price on the tag is your price out the door
BlueLineFish 615 Posted December 18, 2012 Maybe this is a way of NJ now instituting a waiting period
