nj's "system is down"?

I went to purchase an AR lower today at Bullseye Tactical (great place if you have never been) but couldn't walk away with it because "We can't get in touch with the state" and that "Their system is down" and has been since Saturday apparently. No one I spoke with in the store has any idea why this is happening, or how long they think it will take to come back up.

 

Does anyone have any inside info they can share with the rest of the class? I'd really like to put together the lower I already paid for

Just left brick armory.... not luke they had any guns to sell.... sold out haha but they were on the racks waiting for nics. They cant even fax them in he had a pile of paperwork waiting. .. thats insane

I did a transaction today with Jet Agent, LLC. He had to fax the request in on their fax form since their phone system was down or whatnot. Took a few hours.

I am in the enviable position of waiting for my NICS to finish at Heritage, so I can go get my other new toy at Casos. Was hoping to have both done today, now it looks like I wont even get 1 done

Spoke to an ffl that said he called spnics for more info. They had said due to overwhelming demand they shut their phone system down until they catch up

My local PD told me that Trenton was down for a week, last week. so things are pretty backed up. I would imagine that a LOT of requests are being processed and the system is overloaded. I'm not quite ready to put on my "tin foil chapeau" yet, but I am learning how to fold one correctly.

Ok, so when I get the go-ahead that my check from today at 11:00 am went through and all is well, i'll let you all know. And if anyone else has an NICS check that goes through, please let us know!!

Considering the speed of modern hardware with regards to automated infrastructure, some explanations are 1) gross misengineering of the NICS system 2) hanging up on incoming NICS requests and going out for a coffee/smoke. 3) malicious understaffing.

 

sheesh.

8 NICS faxes today and I got two callbacks. The ones done at 10:10AM and 11:06AM were approved at 4:30PM. The other 6 are not yet approved.

I've been trying to fax to the Nics unit since 9:30am and all I get it a busy signal.

Went to pick up my "Assault Weapon" and was told That the State Police aint pickin up the phone. Will have to be faxed in and they will call me when it goes through.

They could only say it could take up to 24 to 48 hrs or more. It's out of thier hands.

Wow. From time to time I questioned why I bought the guns that I did over the past few years. Now I'm glad that I did because I'm beginning to think it may not be too easy to buy anymore for the forseeable future.

For long guns, you can always go to PA and buy it there....background check is cheaper there too
