Dick's Sporting Goods BOYCOTT

Recommended Posts

While we all know Dick's are well...dicks. They have just announced they will be pulling the sale of certain semi-auto rifles:

http://www.abc2news.com/dpp/news/national/dicks-sporting-goods-pulling-some-semi-automatic-rifles-from-shelves

If it is true that the CT shooter attempted to purchase a firearm at a Dick's and was turned down; THE SYSTEM WORKED! For Dick's to pull rifles over this it is insane and they will no longer be getting my money.

On the subject:

I am currently in Maine on business and I woke up to this story this morning on a local channel. The news reporter states, "Dick's sporting goods has announced it will cease the sale of automatic rifles in the wake of this tragedy." A liberal commentator then goes, "Its about time! We don't need these assault rifles which shoot multiple rounds per minute to be in the public's hands. They are not used for target shooting they are just there for murder. The high capacity clips are completely unnecessary and should only be in the hands of military and law enforcement"

My first thought is, I didn't know that Dick's was a class 3 FFL. Then as everything sank in my head just about exploded!

I never shop there. And I don't understand why people do. They treat us gun owners like shit. In this nanny state you have to be escorted to the door with ammo. In free states company policy is NO open carry in the store; IDK if that's the same for CC or not.

They will gladly take our money but they are not friends of gun owners.

Dicks has turned the corner Im afraid. They earned me as a customer way back when when they stood up to protestors for selling ammo. Obviously they have been infiltrated at the corp level so I sent in my email to customer service informing them to remove me from everything, cancel everything and never contact me again and an explanation of why.

"Due to Dick’s enacting a policy to remove sporting rifles from its sales floors due to the act of a criminal, I can no longer support Dick’s as a customer. If you were to follow this logic, I think you would need to remove many more items you sell like knives, machetes, cross bows, gas cans etc etc. I was wondering when you will remove baseball bats from your sales floor since these are involved in criminal murders many times over those involving firearms? It will always escape me how inanimate objects and those that did not commit the crime will have their rights infringed upon. I guess the immigrant Korean shop owners that protected their life and property during the LA riots with AR15’s really should not have been able to protect themselves according to Dick’s policy…..

Please be sure to remove me from mailing lists, email lists, rewards programs etc etc. Good by for ever,"

We should all send letters to their corporate office to the effect:

Eefective today I am no longer buying my hunting needs (rifles, ammo, clothing) from your store along with miscellaneous sporting goods for the kids.

This is based solely on your recent decision to remove some semi-auto rifles from your inventory. Your store in CT did a great job by refusing Adam Lxxxx a firearm. That is how the system should work, but then you blow it. We who appreciate the 2nd Amendment are upset with your decision and are mobilizing to boycott your store for all items.

See ya!

And I don't have little kids or hunt, but let them think they are missing out on clotes and spoerting goods too.

I promise to type this letter tonight and mail it. I hope others do too.

I believe this is their address. I will put to the attention: Public Relations

Dicks Sporting Goods Corporate Office & Headquarters

345 Court St. Coraopolis PA 15108

Let's start doing this stuff along with letters to politicians, showing up to Starbucks on that one date, etc...

If we do nothing then we can't complain.

It's not perfect, but it is something. I hope everyone takes 10 minutes and encourages others to do the same. I am determined to get 5 others (not on this forum) to do the same. We all know neighbors, family, co-workers. Feel free to cut and paste if you want. My last name will be on the signed version. And you can use it for other stores too... Make the effort and don't stop there. Get others to do the same. You can't think "they will blow it off". Make the five you get to do the same also commit to getting five more each.

Public Relations

Dick’s Sporting Goods

345 Court Street

Coraopolis, PA 15108

Dear Sir or Madam:

My family and I have shopped at Dick’s quite a bit over the years (Rockaway, NJ). That will change effective today. We will no longer buy my hunting needs (ammo, clothes, etc…) or sporting goods clothing/equipment for my kids. The reason: Your decision to remove certain semi-auto rifles from your inventory due to the tragedy in Connecticut.

I actually was glad to hear that Dick’s prevented Adam Lanza from getting a firearm. That is how the system should work. But I am offended that you have caved in to pressure and removed certain firearms.

It is the perpetrator, not the tool.

Disappointed former customer,

Joe

This topic is on GlockTalk too. I posted my letter and encouraged others to do the same. I have been posting on Facebook only as replies to anti-gun rants. Be cool headed, reply with facts and rational thought...you would be amazed how many thumbs up you get.

I emailed them to let them know that the scope and rings my wife bought for me for Christmas will be coming back for a refund after Christmas. It's not that I'm a big Dick's shopper (I know that didn't sound right), but their quickness to jump on the bandwagon just shows me that they could care less about the customers who spend money with them.

hate all you want but I just walked into Dicks and purchased multiple boxes of 223 in stock at the "normal price" with no hassles at all..

I honestly could care less if they do or don't choose to carry the guns I like.. I have never and would never purchase a gun from them.. so their business choice has no real impact on me..

right they are anti 2A....

just like most of the products you own that are not made in the US are made by companies that are anti America...

what's worse.. a retailer that gets ammo in stock and continues to sell it at the "normal price" or some "pro 2a" company ran by a bunch of dbags charging $70 for a magazine.. I am not going to punish myself over their politics..

Just got back from Cabela's and Pmags where priced normally. I don't spend my money with a "pro 2A" shop that charges 70 bucks for a magazine either.
