Summary of 2013 legislation

Following is a summary of the 2013 legislation:

  • Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
    • 120 specifically-named firearms
    • Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic
    • Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds

    [*]Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:

    • Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test
    • Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test
    • Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans

    [*]Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.

    [*]Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:

    • Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment
    • Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes and
    • Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons

    [*]Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:

    • Background check of owner and any transferee;
    • Type and serial number of the firearm;
    • Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
    • Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
    • Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

As far as i'm concerned anyone who votes for this is guilty of treason. Obviously the threat of being unelected is no longer enough of a deterent to prevent these traitors from dscrating the constitution. We need to come up with far more creative (legal) ways to punish and make examples of any would be tyrants who are assaulting our god given rights!

Summary of ban showed up on Drudge today, important enough to discuss on multiple posts if thats what it takes, what matters more than this? The least free people on the planet are also the most disarmed. Just following orders worked for Germanys SS, that doesnt mean we should accept that excuse nowadays, or should we?

How about we tar and feather them? We could even sell tickets and use the money to benefit local charities.

It needs to be deeply personal/professional to have any kind of effect. It has to be massive in scale, coordinated not only within the shooting community but the general public. It would have to be at the grassroots level to include as many Americans as possible. Educate the masses and perhaps convert some anti-gunners to our side. Usr disciplined boycotts. If a state's congressional delegation overwhemingly votes in favor of gin control legislation, boycott all tourism in state, blacklist the products & services of companies with facilities in the state. Make sure that the reason for our actions are known to. The public & it's reps.

That is exactly what I'm saying. We have to start working on getting more leverage on the representatives. I'm not talking about blackmail but using whatever issues they have to take them down. If if we know the eighth appreciative in cages in criminal or an ethical or immoral behavior we need to document it and take it to the public and the courts. We need to make it so personally and professionally expensive to vote our rights away they won't even consider it. I need to identify certain individuals and very publicly make then an example all those who attempt to take away our rights

A new AWB is coming in some form or another. How strict and whether it can be enforced is anyones guess. And it doesn't matter if if can pass congress or not. If congress doesn't do it, obama will through executive order. Tough times are ahead for gun owners.

      Although it's not a NJ establishment I believe West Side Rifle and Pistol Range is the last indoor gun range that exists in NYC of all places. I happen to know the guys and they are a great bunch of guys. I found out that they are also hurting like all other self owned businesses and someone mentioned they have a gofundme page currently. The fact that they are a 2A establishment and also the only one left in the NYC I figured i  can let our forum members know about their page. They did not come to me about this but if I can help out a business/friend and spread the word I will do so and for a good bunch of guys. I understand that for some of us it's hard to donate but if you can that would be great. If you can also spread the word and post on your social media sites that would be great. I would do so but I don't have any accounts on FB, IG or other sites. If you do donate drop them a message that it was you heard about them via NJGF!

      A List of the Companies Cutting Ties With the N.R.A.
      https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/24/business/nra-companies-boycott.html
      For me the only one that really hurts is Delta/United since they only game in town for the NY/NJ area. Maybe Metlife and Chubb too.

      You may be asking yourself, what does the bump stock ban have to do with you, especially if you dont own a bump stock. Well, if you own any semi auto rifle, it has more to do with you than you may think. In this video, MAC (Military Arms Channel) and ATF employee Rick Vasquez discuss the long reaching, and likely overreaching, authority of the ATF to regulate without legislation and how political parties use a little known backdoor to regulate without public discourse in Congress. There is also a Q&A from internet viewers.

      In a nutshell, every semi auto rifle will be affected by the proposed regulations concerning bump stocks, even if you don't own one. Among other things, ATF is now talking about regulating SA triggers and reset times. Bottom line here, the bump stock ban is not just about bump stocks. I believe it's important for you to see this, and I ask that you share this video to help get the word out.

      Here is a link to GOA where they briefly outline the ban, it's implications and a link to ATF where you can leave a comment.

      CT Gov. to sign EO prohibiting gun permits to those on the terror watch/No Fly Lists...

      Cue the Lawyers!  Will be very interesting to see how this plays out. Especially since, I believe, those lists are "names only" and not "individual identities" (i.e. name + soc. sec. + address + phone, etc.)...

      Why Switchblades Are Banned

      A rather lengthy but informative article about switchblades and what prompted the "Federal Switchblade Knife Act" to pass in 1958. The article covers the history of the switchblade, how it played it's part during World War II, the legalities, the ban and the situation today.

      http://indefinitelywild.gizmodo.com/why-switchblades-are-banned-1704050416

      "Second Amendment enthusiasts are adding a new front to their right-to-bear-arms battle: Knives. In particular, the infamous switchblade, which has been banned by federal law since 1958. Why all the fuss? Well, it all dates back to racism, xenophobia, class warfare, and political theater."

    • I saw Lara's interview on Bannon's War Room, and that gave me pause for thought. Her conjecture depends primarily on the veracity of her sources. Regardless, if it's not applicable in any way to this ship disaster, the methods described seem valid to me. And worthy of consideration for the future. As I said before, IMO something is coming.
