Blake 50 Posted January 14, 2013 Tried to reply on last thread, but it was locked. Here is my carry question: Is it legal to carry on premises of business that family owns if you are part of the business but your name is not on the property deed? In this case the property is owned by parents but you are a shareholder of the corporation that is on the property. Thank you and hopefully this does not turn into a cluster***k Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Blake 50 Posted January 14, 2013 I guess this is more of a technical question. I am part owner of the business. I just do not own the property the business rests on. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Stides 0 Posted January 14, 2013 Many businesses do not own the property their business is on. They lease it from a landlord. I would make sure you that you have your name listed as owner on the articles of incorporation or some legal document. That being said, Qel Hoth is right. Get the advice of an attorney. Unlawful Possession of a Handgun carries a mandatory period of incarceration of 3 years pursuant to the AG's Graves Act Guidelines. This holds true even for first time offenders. To get any less the county prosecutor must obtain a Graves Act Waiver on your behalf which, depending on the county, they may be less willing to do given the circumstances. The risk is too great not to seek proper legal counsel.
Malsua 1,422 Posted January 14, 2013 If you're a principal of the corporation, you indeed own the business and while the deed may not be in your name, the business certainly is and that's what counts. If you owned a 7-11 on a leased lot, you own the business but not the lot and it's YOUR business so it would be legal in NJ.

Blake 50 Posted January 14, 2013 Thanks for the input guys. I am going to pick up evans book as well as give our lawyer a call. To be honest I dont spend much time at the store anyway, I was more curious than anything. Always good to know whats legal if I ever chose to though.
