Semiautos are for military use only - Another "Mispoke"

Recommended Posts

I happened across this on Politifact.com as I was researching another topic. Politifact seems to be unbiased, but please let me know if anyone has info to the contrary.

The subject concerns a Providence City, Rhode Island council resolution claiming that semi-auto weapons were designed for military use. Another knee jerk biased resolution based on conjecture. Assuming of course that the information contained herein is accurate!

The subject heading of the article is this:

"Semi-automatic weapons, whether pistol or rifle, were designed for use by the military on the battlefield."

Providence City Council on Thursday, January 3rd, 2013 in a council resolution

I'm a firm believer that the inoculation of the 2nd amendment is only a prelude to a further erosion or complete abandonment of (whats left of) the Constitution.

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

Politifact definitely has a bias. The bias is left leaning and in line with their funding. Put politifact bias into google and you will get tons of examples.

They are big on making excuses for Obama, doing things like flagging compromised promises as in progress because they are sure he'll finish them some day, and holding GOP candidates speculative statements to a standard of needing to be factual while dems speculative statements are often categorized as opinion which they don't fact check.

I had a feeling that was the case.

At least the article explained that semi autos werent design specifically for the military.

I get that all politicians are liars, but there are occasions where I'm kind of stunned when one of them is so brazen about their BS.
Case in point, Beto O'Rourke.  He's most famous for failing to win any elected office of importance and for making himself the but of jokes on both sides of the political aisle, but he refuses to give up.
He's now running for Governor of Texas.  You'd think his stance on gun confiscation would be a big barrier in a state like Texas, particularly when he was so definitive about it during the Presidential debates:
“Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.”
      Beto - 2019

Astonishingly, he seems to have a different stance now.  Not nuanced, not slightly different...but a total reversal.  When asked about his confiscation comments from 2019, Beto said:
“I’m not interested in taking anything from anyone. What I want to make sure that we do is defend the Second Amendment”
      Beto - 2022

      Yup, he's now a 2nd Amendment champion????
I get that he’s a political zero, but how the fuck could he make such a drastic and abrupt turnaround and think ANYONE would buy it??
Hell, he even contradicts himself in the SAME breath when he (lies) says he wants to defend the 2nd Amendment, but lies and BASHES Abbot for passing permitless carry!!!
“I’m not interested in taking anything from anyone. What I want to make sure that we do is defend the Second Amendment,” he said. “I want to make sure that we protect our fellow Texans far better than we’re doing right now. And that we listen to law enforcement, which Greg Abbott refused to do. He turned his back on them when he signed that permitless carry bill that endangers the lives of law enforcement in a state that’s seen more cops and sheriff’s deputies gunned down than in any other.”
      Dude is a pathological liar…

Straight from the horse's mouth so to speak: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2021/02/14/statement-by-the-president-three-years-after-the-parkland-shooting/
This is the first presumptive strike on restricting gun rights for the new administration. Now its more important than ever to get involved, spread the word and to get more people recognizing and practicing their Second Amendment rights!

A thoughtful analysis by someone who knows a thing or two about the second amendment. He doesn't paint a rosy picture.

I know the two are bolt 455 and semi auto 512. I'm looking to see if there is anyone who has experience with either or both. I'm finally flush with cash and looking to invest... Or just enough to afford one, potaTOE/poTAtoe.

I've been having a tough time deciding of bolt or semi. I know that bolt with help with discipline and should be more accurate but the ease of a semi is appealing, plus home defense in a pinch. I may be be trying to balance too many things with that issue. To stay on track, opinions or first hand accounts of either rifle is appreciated. Or just plain old advice. Thanks guys.
