Anyone here an armored truck driver?

Recommended Posts

no SORA certificate required?

I only have a limited amount of experiance with being an EMT/security guard (quit that job right when they started requiring SORA).

I then worked at a place that fixed cash counting equipment and bill validators. A few times, I had to work in an Armored Truck depot in Elizabeth to fix equipment that was still full of money, and that place was the most dirty, disgusting place you could ever think of. There was literally a fog of dirt and dust in the air.

I'm retired LEO, I live directly behind Lomis Fargo in Lyndhurst. when I retired, for shits and giggles, I inquired at Lomis. I hade to make an appointment. I was searched prior to entering the office. Spoke with a cute girl from human resources. Was led into a classroom with about 20 of the most criminal looking shady guys and girls I've ever seen. Was given a book to fill out, maybe 30/35 pages of crap. Got through most if it and went into a pre interview. Was told starting wage was $11.00 an hour. I had to chuckle, I said I have 25 years law enforcement, retired carry permit, College Degree, Class A CDL, etc.She then said, oh, you have a CDL? I said yes. she said, then we can give you $11.50 an hour.

Needless to say, I ran outta there top speed. I had to be escorted physically out of the building. On the way out noticed some employee photos by the door with big red letters, DO NOT let these people in. Was about a dozen or so. I had to laugh.

Obviously if they could not get candidates, they would have to raise the wage, but from the amount of tools, that were there I don't think that's gonna happen soon.

My point, don't sell yourself short. Look for something more lucrative. If walking around with a roscoe on your hip is going to give you a boner, then this might be it. But, you can only carry if your working, and I don't think your life is worth any amount of someone else's money.

Just move to PA and walk around with a gun on each hip and one in a shoulder rig.....trust me, it gets old really fast.

The old saying "You get what you pay for" is true not just for products, but for employees as well.

Companies that want to throw $10-11/hr at people risking their lives, end up with a shitty staff full of rejects, slackers, etc. and a high turnover as the staff either doesn't care or moves on the second something easier/better paying comes up.

I have my own personal reasons for deciding not to join. The process left a very bad taste in my mouth. If I could sign a paper and be put in the field with a rifle and comrades behind my back and skip all the politics then yes I'd be over seas fighting right now. Anyway I'd rather not have this discussion it's not related I brought it up just to point out the fact I've passed the background check of all background checks.

You passed the background checks of all background checks? Seriously? So did I. Also aced my asvab. Didn't go because I was 17 and dear old mom would sign the release. But unless your record was something serious you didn't pass any background check my dog wouldn't pass. And he shits on people's flowers.
