djg0770 481 Posted January 24, 2013 I just sent an email to our school board president after I had the opportunity today to enter the school to pickup my daughter. They buzzed me in and never asked my purpose and then there's a LONG walk to the main office and there was NO ONE escorting or watching, at all. Guys, if your kids are in school, check out their security or lack thereof. It's deplorable and they all operate with the idea that "it can't happen here". Ray Ray 3,566 Posted January 24, 2013 Bayonne Board of Ed has many new policies in this regard. The person trying to gain access must identify themself and look into the camera. Also, the district just did a city-wide "active shooter" drill. It was effing scary. I had to travel around the school and make sure all the doors where locked. I came across one door that was locked, but the door lock was broken so i was able to gain access. The lights were out in the classroom and all the children (3rd graders) along with the teacher were huddled in the back of the dark classroom. I was stunned, and scared to death. paulnj088 9 Posted January 24, 2013 I work in a school and let me tell you how poor security is here. Doors are left open all day and there is no police present when we have shcool events They say theres no money to put police on duty. Lol. Untill somethig goes wrong. Kids are forced to be in school. Why arent cops ??obama??

My district is in the process of installing video cameras in the buildings but not like that will stop anything. MarkWVU02 47 Posted January 24, 2013 My school is atrocious when it comes to security. Sad part is it was built in 05 and is a "modern " school.
Piranha21 0 Posted January 24, 2013 I have to say the elementary school I teach at is quite tight as far as security is concerned. Security ten feet from the front door and all doors are locked except employees who have swipe cards to get in.
