jm1827 284 Posted January 28, 2013 So, I have started calling, faxing, writing and emailing members of the NJ legislature that have sponsored the recent anti- gun bills letting them know that I don't support such legislation and will not support candidates that support such legislation. I just had to share, word for word, what I received from Jimenez. Hopefully this isn't a canned letter, just look at the spelling. Dear (deleted) Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding bill A3676. I Understand there are many different opinions and points of view with respect to this legislation. It is my hope that this legslation, along with the many other bills introudced by my colleagues in the legislature on this matter, will begin a worhtwile and healthy dialogue about this topic. Once again, thank you and please know your thoughts are very much apprciated. Angelica M. T Bill 649 Posted January 28, 2013 Its a canned letter. To think the office staff cannot even spell check the document is telling of the lack of professionalism in the office. This letter could be sent to both sides of the debate. She obviously needs to be replaced by her electorial district.

jm1827 284 Posted January 28, 2013 She actually sponsored 1 bill and co-sponsored another. Both of which would cost $$ to try and comply with and in direct conflict with the federal HIPPA guidelines regarding sharing of personal medical records. Assembly Bill 3676 sponsored by Representative Angelica Jimenez (D-32) requires a psychological evaluation and in-home inspection as prerequisite to purchase firearm. Assembly Bill 3688 sponsored by Representatives Charles Mainor (D-31) and Angelica Jimenez (D-32) requires a mental health evaluation and list of household members with mental illness before one may purchase firearm. -
Rifleman1 32 Posted January 28, 2013 Looks like a canned letter. I got this from Senator Memendez and below that is what he actually is doing via the website... Dear Mr. Xxxxxx: Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns regarding additional firearms legislation in the wake of the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. Your opinion is very important to me, and I appreciate the opportunity to respond to you on this critical issue. As the father of two, this tragedy struck painfully close to my heart and painfully close to the heart of every parent. No parent should ever have to bear the unspeakable pain of losing a child, especially to this type of tragedy. I join with every American in expressing our deep and abiding grief as a nation and our deepest -- most heartfelt -- condolences to the families of the victims. As your Senator, I strongly defend the rights of citizens to use firearms responsibly for recreational purposes or protection of one's family and home. At the same time, I vigorously support efforts to keep guns out of the hands of individuals that wish to use them against society. Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. On this, as with any other issue, there are many different views. Please be assured that I will keep your views in mind. I invite you to visit my website (http://menendez.senate.gov) to learn more about how I am standing up for New Jersey families in the United States Senate. THIS WAS HIS PRESS RELEASE ON THE WEBSITE> Menendez Joins Senate Democrats In Demanding A Ban On Assault Weapons, High-Capacity Magainzes Signs On To Senator Dianne Feinstein’s Assault Weapons Regulatory Act of 2013; Bill Protects 2,200 specific hunting, sporting weapons January 24, 2013 WASHINGTON, D.C. – Just a week after President Obama called on Congress to enact meaningful gun safety reforms, U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today joined Senate Democrats in introducing legislation that bans dangerous military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of holding more than 10 rounds. There has not been a federal ban on assault weapons since 2004, when a 10-year ban signed into law by President Clinton expired. Since that expiration, 37% of police departments reported seeing a noticeable increase in criminals’ use of assault weapons. “I am proud to join with Senator Feinstein and Senate Democrats in a push to get assault weapons and high-capacity magazines off of our streets and limit their use to what was intended: war. Weapons which have a sole purpose of maximizing carnage and death do not belong in our communities,” said Senator Menendez. “I hope my Republican colleagues will stand up to the NRA and join us in righting the wrong of Congress when we allowed the assault weapons ban to expire in 2004.” Menendez added: “While a ban on military-style weapons is critical, we must address how we deal with those who suffer with mental illnesses in our society. No more politics. No more excuses. No more Newtowns. We cannot allow this sort of senseless violence to continue.” Senator Menendez has consistently supported common sense legislation to curb gun violence. Menendez has co-sponsored legislation to outlaw high capacity clips, close the “gun show loophole” and require everyone at gun shows to undergo background checks, and improve the quality of background checks by encouraging states and federal agencies to submit records to the National Instant Criminal System. He also previously sponsored legislation to restore full access to the crime gun trace data for law enforcement. Senator Dianne Feinstein’s (D-CA) Assault Weapons Regulatory Act of 2013 has 16 co-sponsors: Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) Charles E. Schumer (D-NY), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Carl Levin (D-MI), Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Jack Reed (D-RI), Ben Cardin (D-MD), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) Chris Murphy (D-CT), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Brian Schatz (D-HI) and Jay Rockefeller (D-WV). In addition, the legislation has been endorsed by a range of law enforcement organizations, clergy, gun violence victims, and doctors including: International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Moms Rising, American College of Surgeons, and the American Bar Association. Summary of the Feinstein Assault Weapons Regulatory Act of 2013: Two principal goals: First, the bill prohibits the sale, manufacture, transfer and importation of more than 150 of the most commonly-owned military-style assault weapons. It also bans an additional group of assault weapons that can accept a detachable ammunition magazine and have one or more military characteristics. Second, the bill bans large-capacity magazines and other ammunition feeding devices that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition. These devices allow shooters to fire numerous rounds in rapid succession without having to stop and reload. The legislation also protects the rights of law-abiding citizens who use guns for hunting, household defense or legitimate recreational purposes. The Assault Weapons Ban includes a grandfather clause that specifically exempts all assault weapons lawfully possessed at the date of enactment from the ban. The legislation also excludes: More than 2,200 legitimate hunting and sporting rifles by specific make and model; Any gun manually operated by bolt, pump, lever or slide action; and Weapons used by government officials, law enforcement and retired law enforcement. Other key provisions in the bill: Requires background checks on all future transfers of assault weapons covered by the legislation, including sale, trade and gift. Requires that grandfathered assault weapons be stored safely using a secure gun storage or safety device in order to keep them away from prohibited persons. Prohibits the sale or transfer of high-capacity ammunition feeding devices that are currently in existence. The full text of the Assault Weapons Ban of 2013 as well as additional background information is available on Senator Feinstein’s website at feinstein.senate.gov/assaultweapons. ### Press Contact 202-224-4744

raz-0 1,259 Posted January 30, 2013 wonder what the response will be if you ask menendez about the underage prostitutes. Well if all my other correspondence represents a pattern, an initial automatic form letter saying he s considering both sides of the issue of banging underage prostitutes, and that he will consider your opinion. Then a follow up form letter that says banging underage prostitutes is in the best interest of the public because he says so, you're an a-hole and to screw yourself. Just slightly more politic wording.
NicePants 58 Posted January 30, 2013 I like how these bastards all respond as though you don't know what the hell they're up to, or as though they're open to the views of the opposition. They are fanatical and rabid in their devotion to civilian disarmament. The only remedy for that sickness is a swift removal from power.
