pcc_1028 0 Posted February 17, 2013 My uncle gave me his Winchester Defender 1600 shotgun. Has not been fired for 10 years. Wanted to know if any shops accept trade in towards another shotgun like a Mossberg or something. Thanks
Clintoon Eastwood 2 Posted February 17, 2013 Try to sell it here, you might be surprised to see who is interested.
RobertJames 14 Posted February 17, 2013 It's been my experience that most shops will take trades. However, if you sell it privately you have opportunity to make more profit. The gun shops will want to buy low in order to resell for a profit. There is a classified section here for firearm sales. Just sayin...

lunker 274 Posted February 17, 2013 Consider keeping it. It is a much better built firearm then the the new slapped together guns Mossberg and Remington are putting out these days (unless you're buying something from 1 of their premium lines, like a wingmaster ). pcc_1028 0 Posted February 17, 2013 Going to give it a good clean and maybe try it out. There is dot size rust on the barrel. Will the silicone wipe fix this? Thanks
twong11219 0 Posted February 17, 2013 Depending how bad, you can try using some Flitz to remove the rust. Follow up with some heat with a butane torch and some cold blue to touch up any discoloration.

HODGIE 3 Posted February 17, 2013 Even If it's in excellent condition a local shop would most likely rape you on a trade in.
blksheep 466 Posted February 17, 2013 They arent raping anyone. They are running a business. If they give you retail and sell it for retail its not called a business.

Thats not exactly what I ment, He will get very little on trade in value on a used firearm he is better selling it on his own. I completely understand the consept of running a business, the mark up on new and used firearms and capitialism. Read some of my other posts regarding gauging and the definition of it. For a guy off the street that wants to move trade something in the value is extremely low.

Maybe some people are more comfortable selling to a gun store. We are on the same track. No worries.
