Colorado Assembly passes 4 Anti 2A laws

Recommended Posts

http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_22613895/colorado-house-debate-gun-bills-again-but-limited

15 round magazine limit

No CCW on college campuses

Additional fee to pay for background checks

Background checks required on PRIVATE sales and transfers

Terrible. The only bright side for us is that there will be another 15 round mag limit state so that might increase the demand and availability for 15 round mags in general (assuming we don't get bumped down to 10).

At least we'll have a ready market for our 11-15 round mags!

Does anyone know how the Senate in Co. is supposed to vote? They can't be as bad off as we are....

It's expected to sail through the Dem controlled Senate and then be signed by the Dem governor. Their only hope was the Assembly. Most people imagine CO to be a more conservative state but they've had a heavy influx of liberal CA transplants.

My understanding is, that it's expected to pass the senate as well, and the governor is expected to sign it shortly after. On a brighter note, Magpul has decided to draw a line in the sand, and they are considering moving out of Colorado. and taking 600 jobs and 85mil out of the Colorado economy. Unintended consequences I guess, but the fact is that only the agenda matters, which is something those who are about to be unemployed will soon find out. I'd bet that a few free states are already courting Magpul.

How will the private individual run a back ground check on another individual? I honestly have no problem with that PROVIDED we can ALL use NICS and pay a fee just like the FFL's do now and do it over the internet any time any place. Leaving college campuses as no-gun zones just gives the crazies another open shooting ground, just like the theater in Aurora, and everyone will know it. But, if no CCW there, what about open-carry, or is that already outlawed there?

I'd bet that a few free states are already courting Magpul.

"It is an if/then statement at this point. We don't have a choice," said Duane Liptak, the company's director of product management and marketing.

Magpul employs 200 people directly, ranging from basic assembly workers to product designers and other professionals specializing in weapons-related components, Liptak said.

As much as possible, the company tries to contract with Colorado vendors, who represent about 90 percent of its supply chain, he said. Those suppliers received about $46 million last year from Magpul, with the company projecting that number to reach $85 million for 2013, Liptak said.

A large share of those dollars goes to manufacturers that mold the company's mostly plastic components, including the controversial cases that can hold more than 15 rounds.

North Denver's Alfred Manufacturing Co. has grown from 40 employees in 2008 to 150 largely because of the work provided by Magpul, said the company's third-generation chief executive, Greg Alfred.

"If House Bill 1224 passes, we will relocate part or all of our operations out of state," Alfred warned Gov. John Hickenlooper and members of the state legislature in a letter Friday.

Alfred said plans for a $1 million expansion to add another 15,000-square-foot building to the 60,000 square feet the company has at West 44th Avenue and Elati Street are on hold.

The companies say they are actively scouting locations in other states, including Wyoming and Montana.

Colorado has a 7.6% unemployment rate versus the Garden State's 9.6%.

Wyoming is 4.9% and Montana is 5.7%.

Unfortunately, that is going to be the end of this country. They destroy the state they live in, then hate the high cost, so they leave and destroy another state and then another. Kinda like a plague. Needs to be eradicated.

In 1994, I went out to Aurora, OR and interviewed for a job and way back then, the chief pilot told me how all of the California a**holes were moving to OR and destroying it.

Probably part of the liberal plan, move from state to state until you destroy them all.

NICS is a free service. NJ provides their own version of it so they can charge for it.

It past just one house of the legislature. One more to go, plus the governor needs to sign it.

No it's not. We've already paid for it through some tax, I don't know the mechanics involved in the funding it, but its taxpayer funded. NJ just likes to make us pay again.

Wouldn't doubt it. Was talking to a couple county cops the other day. One had a friend in Az saying that the leos are having drills involving storming homes to confiscate guns. For the record, the 2 guys I was speaking to are also pro gun and get none of this either. Argh. The one state I want to retire to may take a back flip. WTH!

Actually that is not true. In CO in their Senate it is a 20-15 Democrat advantage. If they get three Dems to vote "no" they bills will not pass.

Behind The Lines In Colorado

We received the tragic news that the state of Colorado had gone over to the dark side and embraced the ways of Mordor. For an entire day we have been reading debates and rhetoric. Our good friends at MagPul will be leaving the state and moving to the free state of Nevada. We congratulate them on their choice and we will continue to support them via the sales and endorsement of their products.

Nonetheless, The Suarez Group wanted to...needed to do, something to show solidarity with those stuck behind the lines in Colorado. Although we do not have the resources of larger companies, we want to do something notable.

We will show the socialists in Colorado that their oppressive laws on the people of Colorado are totally irrelevant by flooding the state with High Capacity M4 Assault Rifle Magazines before they close and lock the gates to the New Iron Curtain.

We have sets of ten (10) TSD Combat Systems M4 Magazines. These will only be sold to residents of Colorado at reduced rates, and only shipped to civilian Colorado addresses. We will not sell them to any official agency in the state, nor to any gun stores or dealers.

I know many want these magazines, but our beleaguered brothers need these more than we do.

Maybe this makes me an Ahole, but I don't feel one bit bad for CO or their residents.

Them along with all the other free states don't and haven't given a rats behind about us in the commie states... this is what happens when opression is allowed to flourish even if it's only in certain states.. It WILL spread.

This kind of thing needs to be wiped out on a national level. After all who's supposed to be responsible for enforcing the constitution anyway?

Colorado is idealized as "free" like its bordering states of Wyoming or Utah but it is not and hasn't been at least for the past couple decades.

There isn't even a permit I can obtain that will let me carry concealed lawfully.

That said I think once you leave Denver County you'd be hard pressed to find a liberal majority.

Like many states in the East the conservative country side is ruled by the liberal big city, i.e. New York.

What did you expect the pro-2A minority to do?

I still feel bad for them :(

I haven't seen anyone mention this on the forum.

      http://www.gunssavelife.com/?p=1976

The article suggests that the colorado/batman shooter didn't go to the closest 2 cinemas he instead went to the closest one which had a no-firearms policy. I am sure that we'll see argument and rebuttals of this as it is debated.

I can assume there could be other reasons why he specifically went to this cinema rather than another one, maybe it was the time the film was starting, maybe it is the one he went to previously etc.

Still, it is good to see what appears to be some further investigation going on.

    • Can someone explain what the timing limits are for the quals?  I know it’s 50 rounds broken down at various distances, but what is the timing requirement in total or per distance?

    • Please read this entire post, there is a lot of information, please read read all of it before making a decision. I am selling ALL of my reloading equipment, everything set up for 9mm, 45 ACP, 223, and 308. I will not ship Large or Hazmat items, pick up local in the Manalapan area. I am willing to drive 10 miles in any direction. For large orders I would consider driving further. I can ship small, non-Hazmat items on your dime. Keep in mind, bullets are small but very heavy, shipping them will be expensive   My pricing methodology is simple, all prices are based on retail prices as of 6/29/2022: All hardware, whether New or Used, is 10% below amazon prices. Powder is full retail price per powder valley prices for un-opened containers. 10% below retail for remaining amount of opened containers Primers are all 10% below Powder Valley prices because I threw out all the original 1,000 count outer boxes and have the 100 count cards in ziplock bags Bullets are full retail price per powder valley and Berry’s prices for un-opened boxes. 10% below retail for loose bullets All prices are rounded to the nearest dollar There is always room to negotiate price as long as the offers are reasonable. But all negotiations must be completed prior to delivery, not during the delivery (I had a bad experience with this).   First “I’ll take it” in the thread, not via PM, gets the sale. If we are negotiating via PM and someone says “I’ll take it” in the thread during negotiations, the “I’ll take it” gets the sale.   If you want all of it, we can work out a package deal, and you will get all my brass for free, some of which is already primed. But keep in mind, it will be around $3K   Most items can be purchased separately but some will need to be combined for obvious reasons. Here is the extensive list. Photos will be provided upon request, there are too many to put into the post.   I accept Cash or Paypal as gift   Press - as a set - $643.49 Total    Hornady LnL AP press (Includes all retail components and manual, NO shell plates or dies)     - $507    Inline Fabrications roller lever (painted)                                                                                                 - $50    Inline Fabrications dual bin output tray                                                                                                  - $36    Inline Fabrications skylight                                                                                                                       - $27    Inline Fabrications shell plate lighting                                                                                                    - $25    3D printed case feeder                                                                                                                              - FREE    3D printed attachment to empty powder drop                                                                                     - FREE    Wood stand                                                                                                                                               - FREE    MTM Primer Flipper (Clear Smoke)                                                                                                      - FREE    Hornady LnL Shell Plates – Sold individually #1                                                                                  - $36 #8                                                                                  - $36 #16                                                                                - $36 #25                                                                                - $36   Hornady Custom Grade New Dimension 2-Die Set – Sold individually .223 (2 LnL Bushings Installed - $12)                             - $60 .308 (2 LnL Bushings Installed - $12)                             - $60   Hornady Custom Grade New Dimension 3-Die Set – Sold individually 9 mm (3 LnL Bushings Installed - $18)                            - $68 .45 ACP (3 LnL Bushings Installed - $18)                        - $68   Case Prep – Sold individually Frankford Arsenal Platinum Series Rotary Tumbler with 7-Liter Capacity                                                                                               - $135 Frankford Arsenal Quick-N-EZ 110V Case Tumbler Kit Reduced more than 10% due to loose powder cable in the tumbler         - $50 Frankford Arsenal Platinum Series Case Trim and Prep                                                                                                                             - $171 Lyman 7832323 Reloading 223 Case Length/Headspace Gauge                                                                                                             - $19 Lyman Reloading 308 Win Case Length/Headspace Gauge                                                                                                                      - $19 Lyman Reloading 45 A.C.P.
