Foscam Security Cams and setup...

Recommended Posts

Ya must of missed something in BI.... It works flawlessly here. It's a lot more intricate than the built in webserver...

That's what's strange.. Vitamin D has been working great over the last 3 days with detecting motion and sending me alerts. Blue Iris was running for one day and it wasn't consistent with motion alerts, even when I passed my hand in front of the camera inside the window.. It didnt pick it up as motion.. (??) so I nixed it and went with Vitamin D.

Perhaps it's the software? Vitamin D is able to fairly accurately determine if an object is a person, animal or "other." Maybe whatever algo they're running is more "intelligent"?

So far over the last 2 days, I've seen (been alerted of) the landscapers, postman, and ups delivery person. =]

They are only about 6-8" tall. You tell me, you get a lot of snow built up on your house? :)

I dunno how hard it is for you to get to them, but if they need servicing, especially in the winter, that might be a biotch.......

do you think the snow will cover them up ?

Maybe, maybe not... They all use the same security like other internet devices. Wep/Wap, etc... So IMHO, anything you open your network to could be vulnerable. Host off your own server, devices, sharing, etc...

Also, beware of sites selling low priced Foscams... A lot are nothing more than clones. Foscam is aware of this so I'm told by their reps. Make sure your firmware IS up to date as the article mentions.

Recently ran across this site, https://haveibeenpwned.com
In light of all of the big national data breeches, helpful to know if your email appeared on any of the lists, and if so, what other information is tied in.

I put this topic under "NJ Prepared" since I would think a secure entry door is an important part of being prepared for the unknown.  If anyone feels it doens't belong here, please move it to a more appropriate forum.

Does anyone have any recommendations or experience regarding an attractive, yet strong/secure front entry door company/installer?  I've seen a few different ones, at gun shows, that claim to be strong enough to withstand battering rams and crowbars, even to the glass components.  I'm looking at a full reconstruction, not just a replacement door.  Currently we just have a wooden door with no glass and we want to add a more attractive and safer (preferably steel) door with translucent, but not transparent, glass on either side of it.  I'd also like to still have the option of installing a storm door, which I don't see people do too much anymore with new, attractive doors.

Thanks in advance for any tips, info, or ideas.

    • I have a like new (only zeroed) PSA Sabre KAC M110 Clone in 7.62x51mm. This is PSA's clone version of the infamous Knights Armament M110. Very high quality, excellent 2 stage trigger, 20" chrome lined barrel, adjustable gas block, and is NJ legal with a pinned Surefire SOCOM muzzle brake.  Radian Raptor charging handle and Radian ambi safety. Upper and lower are billet receivers compatible with all KAC SR-25 and LMT MWS/MARS-H pattern receivers.  Im no where close to being a long range shooter but ive been able to get 0.7 MOA out of it with 175gr federal gold medal match ammo and Im sure the rifle is capable of much better accuracy. Asking $1650 (which is a steal for what you get) at any FFL thats a reasonable distance from Jersey City. I can also ship but that would be on your dime.  Optic/bipod etc not included but can be purchased if interested. Vortex Razor Gen-II HD 3-18x50 FFP with the new EBR-7C MRAD illuminated reticle in a 1.54 reptilia mount. Id include the optic for another $1700. Happy to answer any questions or provide more pictures. Not interested in any trades. Thank you.
