Hare Trigger 0 Posted March 30, 2013 I keep hearing Obama and the biased media saying that 90% of Americans want universal background checks. I know that I am one of the 10%! Although, in theory, having the checks the same no matter where you go sounds good, I believe that this would only complicate matters, making it more difficult to purchase at gun shows, slow down our pistol application process, cause longer waiting time between purchases and would put us all under a microscope as well as giving the government a reason for a national database in the near future. Every gun owner I talk to agrees with me . So I ask you, Who were the 90%???
blksheep 466 Posted March 30, 2013 90% of the people they poll in a county that is their projected demographic.

jm1827 284 Posted March 30, 2013 90% of the people they poll in a county that is their projected demographic. This^^^ Most likely the sample population was purposely selected because of a bias that they held and I am sure the questions were extremely biased and leading. Even with a non biased population the questions could have easily been designed to get the desired outcome. Remember, statistics don't lie, statisticians do. compujas 21 Posted March 30, 2013 The questions were likely heavily biased as well. "Do you support or oppose laws that would greatly reduce gun violence?" "Do you support or oppose background checks that would prevent criminals from having firearms?" "Do you support or oppose closing the gun show loophole?" PeteF 1,044 Posted March 30, 2013 The questions were likely heavily biased as well. "Do you support or oppose laws that would greatly reduce gun violence?" "Do you support or oppose background checks that would prevent criminals from having firearms?" "Do you support or oppose closing the gun show loophole?" This^^ It's all in the question. Usually runs like "Do you support keeping firearms out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill?" 9/10 (1/10 being the criminals) will always answer yes. But if the question is posed "Do you support having old ladies being beaten and robbed by criminals?" You get a completely different result. Unless you know the methodology of the poll. Polls and Statistic are worthless.
Howard 538 Posted March 30, 2013 You can word a poll to get almost any result you want. Next when you call only home land lines during the day who do you think answers? Let's see the Republicans are at work, and more intelligent and affluent people don't answer phones unless they know the number showing up on the caller ID. Oh, so this leaves Liberals on government assistance with phone lines paid for by our taxes.
1LtCAP 4,262 Posted March 30, 2013 you can also effect the outcome of a poll simply by profiling those you ask. it is generally VERY easy to pick the ones that you think will give the answers you want just by their looks.

I knew a girl who did poll taking in college and they would send them out with certain questions then the next day reword the same topic questions and used the better results they wanted from both polls. raz-0 1,259 Posted March 30, 2013 You know, even with gaming it, they can't reproduce their 90% claim. Gallup and CBS cannot at least.
JSF01 13 Posted March 31, 2013 You know, even with gaming it, they can't reproduce their 90% claim. Gallup and CBS cannot at least. Do you have a source for this. I'd like to know the actual numbers that those polls are coming up with. Is this an actual ligitament thing or is it simply a case where the 90% number is simply a rounded up number from like 88%. Hare Trigger 0 Posted March 31, 2013 This was out of the mouth of Obama himself; “Right now, 90 percent of Americans – 90 percent – support background checks that will keep criminals and people who have been found to be a danger to themselves or others from buying a gun. “More than 80 percent of Republicans agree. More than 80 percent of gun owners agree. Think about that. How often do 90 percent of Americans agree on anything?” he said to laughter from the audience. “It never happens.” I don't know his source for this MIS-information, probably made it up,but I copied it from the speach he made last Thursday. How often does he tell the truth? (laughter from the audience.) “It never happens.”

Is this an actual ligitament thing or is it simply a case where the 90% number is simply a rounded up number from like 88%. Reread with care. CBS and Gallup are posting their numbers and question set. At least with Gallup, the questions have been consistent for years. They are NOT finding anything close to 90%. In fact the tend is the longer this goes on, the more people are moving to leave the laws alone or reduce gun control. I haven't seen anything other than statements from grabbers with 90% for anything.
JackDaWack 2,895 Posted April 1, 2013 The Question was... Do you support or oppose requiring background checks for all gun buyers? http://www.quinnipia...?ReleaseID=1847 The problem isn't so much the polls themselves or how they are done... it is how they use the data.. So 90% supports this, that is NOT the same as saying we support their idea of universal background checks. If the idea is giving NICS a free call without divulging firearm info, no one gives a rats ass when the system works and it takes 5mins to do.. that is not what they are claiming 90% support. njpilot 671 Posted April 1, 2013 That worthless p.o.s. Mark Kelly was on Fox News Sunday yesterday spewing the same lies Obama, Biden and Bloomturd spew. 40% of all gun sales don't get a background check. 75% of NRA members are for "universal background checks", "we want to stop people from being able to buy guns on the internet with no background check". Democrats and Liberals suffer from a mental disorder. Lying is easy for these people. They can't help themselves. It's pathological. The ends justifies the means in these demented minds. You only get one side of the story from the lame media and polls. If people really understood the bureaucracy and onerous process you would get real poll answers.
