AlDente67 563 Posted April 8, 2013 Speaking of re-filling your propane tanks (and when you don't have a friend who owns a shop ), I have been using on online service called jackgas.com The price is $25 for a tank, but they fill it to a true 20 pounds instead of the trade-ins at the stores, which typically come in at 15 pounds. So it is sort of a wash, dollar for dollar, but they deliver to your door the next day. No need to lug around tanks.

71ragtopgoat 23 Posted April 8, 2013 So, where's the best place to get a 'non-special' Weber? I'm in the market too this year. Funny you should ask. I used to work in a mom and pop hardware store. For years home depot (Home defect) was after weber to make a home depot grade(lower) weber. Weber said fu. But market forces drove them to it. So basicall go to your local mom and pop hardware dealer and buy the better grade weber there, Home depot is being sued or was for selling lower grade Moan(sp) faucets that failed. I do shop there but it has the knick name home defect for a reason.LOL

CMJeepster 2,766 Posted April 8, 2013 Sunbeam Flamemaster here, circa 1998 at home. Replaced the burner after it rusted with a generic and isn't doing the trick. Gotta fix that this year. Got an unknown brand at the shore and it always needs help due to the salt air...
RobertJames 14 Posted April 9, 2013 I agree with anyone who has said charcoal FTW. There's no going back, the flavor is unbelievable.

Red Solo Cup 11 Posted April 10, 2013 I think the key to happiness is to learn how to care for a grill...not saying that i know how either! But my Target "special" top of the line Amana 3 burner (actually a SureHeat 27) has completely rusted to shit inside. The burners haven't gone yet cause they're stainless, literally everything else inside has rusted out. I'm restoring the cast iron grills to get another year out of it, scrubbed them good and used plenty of vegetable oil to make them usable. That is the art that I have to learn, how to care for the cast iron grilles. Before I invest in a better unit for next year. Luckily the Target grill was on clearance (75% off) so I really can't complain. But nothing of any quality comes from a Target or Home Depot that is for damn certain! AlDente67 563 Posted April 11, 2013 That there is a nice grill Jon. I sell those things all damn day long. I noticed they are putting the knobs back on the front now, is that right? Mine came with the knobs located on the right-side tray, which reduces the space to keep a serving plate on that side. The reason I read is that the front-mount knobs had a melt-down issue. I guess they solved that issue?

I guess they solved that issue? I haven't had any come back with melted knobs. They used to have the burners going side to side rather than front to back. That's why the burner knobs sat on the side. Supposedly it promoted less cold spots on the grill surface. People hated not having that side space.
StriderTB 10 Posted April 18, 2013 Did a pair of 1 1/2" thick NY Strip steaks Monday night, and it couldn't have been better. Got the egg's dome temp up to 600F, and I shoved the coals to one side. Cooked at 2 minutes per side, and then shut all the vents, put the steaks on the other side of the grate, and let them roast indirectly for 4 minutes. By the time they rested, the sides were done, and it came out perfect.

bullpin 0 Posted April 19, 2013 I'm a fan. I like the ceramic grills too. I bought the Primo brand one a few years back. My only mistake was not stocking up on enought lump charcoal. Had to go all winter without it. I cant stand paying shipping on stuff.

Silphidae 33 Posted May 7, 2013 Just replaced my 10 year old genesis with a Summit 6 burner model. Did a turkey breast (bone in) on the rotisserie and it was the best turkey I've ever had. Have a lot to learn and can't wait to grow into this grill.
