He didn't give you a price before he did the work?

More so that he didn't ask the price.

Avoid RTSP if you're anywhere near them (Union & Randolph).

I love their ranges & sales but my first gunsmithing experience with them will be the last.

I sent my barrel & brake to be pinned, and after a week what they're still telling me is literally "it's done when it's done".

The funny thing is I did ask them "would it take a week" before I gave them the stuffs, and their answer was "nah, just two days".

They sound annoyed when I called them to check on it after 5 days, then 7 days, and scolded me for not waiting indefinitely without an ETA. It's been a week and they're still unable to tell me when it could be done.

I know it's a tough time, but if they're being overloaded, at least tell me up front so I may decide to go elsewhere if I want to.

Their fee is $75 for pin & weld a muzzle break, FYI.

Similar experience. Had an AR pinned etc and it wasn’t cheap. At the time though they were the only game in town.  Tried getting in touch with Tier 1 Defense a bunch of times but he never responded.  Seems like more smiths are available now vs peak COVID (April) when I had this work done

I think the reason why they responded to me that way was because they thought I was having them making a GUN compliant, which means I have no choice but to wait (i.e. I can't take possession of the gun before it is made compliant), thus the "it's done when it's done" attitude. In another word, they're abusing gun laws.

What he didn't know is that I only sent them a barrel & a brake, and that has nothing to do with compliance. So yes I do have a choice.

I will take them back and bring them to The Heritage Guild of Rahway, or even drive 40 miles for another gunsmith if I have to, as long as I don't take them home with me.

This is a conversation I had with that other gunsmith. It will also take a week, but that's the kind of business we should be dealing with.

Thats insane. Saw Mike @Tier1 defense the other week for pin/weld appointment. Done on the spot. In and out in 15 mins. $50.

go to www.tieronedefense.com and make an appointment thru his website.  He only answers calls when he is at the shop and he seems to have very limited hours.
