FFL Fees - cheat sheet

Recommended Posts

Heads up, I talked with the guys at True Value in Lincoln Park...they are in the process of becoming an FFL, but are not as of yet...shouldn't be too much longer.

I can't see them charging less than the FFL below which is on my way to true value.

STEEL CITY FIREARMS

46 HIGH ST

WAYNE, NJ 07470

(973) 727-2848

Ralph charges $40

The guy is right off rt.23 by the service road.

$40 with NICS? easy to undercut that by $5 or $10 bucks and still profit.

Of course it's a hardware store and guns/ammo are probably not going to be a primary business

We need more hardware stores that carry the "other" hardware :D

Our True Value drops it's FFL many years ago..

Unclear on the charge. Is it $40 + $15 or $25 + $15?

When Bruce owned the True Value in Lincoln Park he was at 40, the last 2yrs he was open he was at 45...we shall see what the new owner will set his price at, hopefully keeps it the same.

Just curious, where the hell is the gun counter in a True Value? :D

Do you ask and say you are picking up and it's pulled from the back or do they have a gun/ammo display?

No display, previously you would just go in and see Bruce, he had the safes in the back, fill out the paperwork at the counter.

Cool, would be nice to see other hardware stores get FFL's and start doing transfers.

Pre gun control act I know lot's of hardware stores sold guns and ammo...after the Federal license requirement came out seems they almost all disappeared (in NJ< at least).

it's probably out somewhere else in this forum but here's a link to atf.gov FFLs per state:

https://www.atf.gov/content/firearms/firearms-industry/listing-FFLs

Scroll down to New Jersey.

I'd say at least half of those 400 dealers in NJ don't do transfers.

Does it depend on the type of FFL they hold or even the ones with the correct type(s), they just don't feel like doing it?

So far Mainiero Sports Shop Inc is doing it.

I'll report about the whole experience once I have the product in my hand.

Just a followup on the experience:

The final transfer price was $45 and it was a pleasant experience.  My brother in law is using Mainiero for his transfer.

Please add it to the list.
